Meet Squints! Squints is a senior gentleman, best guessed to be a Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix, who is ready to find a quiet place to call home. Found as a stray, he has settled in nicely with us and has shown us what makes him happiest: a calm environment, time to enjoy the yard, and the freedom to do his own thing. Squints is an independent little guy who appreciates life at his own pace. He enjoys treats and some gentle pets, but he isn’t a fan of being handled, so he’s looking for someone who understands the importance of respecting his boundaries and letting trust develop naturally. He has done wonderfully with every dog he has met, though he tends to keep to himself rather than seek out playtime or companionship. He may be happiest sharing a home with another easygoing dog who won’t expect too much interaction from him.  Squints has received a full senior wellness workup and a dental cleaning to remove several diseased teeth. He is in good overall health, but he does have hypothyroidism that requires daily medication. He also has microphthalmia in one eye, which affects his vision on that side. These special considerations don’t take away from his ability to enjoy the simple things in life. We don’t know how Squints feels about cats or young children, but we think respectful teenagers who understand how to approach him calmly and interact gently could be a good fit. If you have a peaceful home, a little patience, and a soft spot for independent old gentlemen, Squints might just be your kind of guy.  Be sure to keep your eyes peeled on Instagram (@nwdogproject) for updates! Story
Edgar is a sweet guy with an amazing personality. He was abandoned outside of an apartment building after residents were evicted, and they did not come back for him. He is sweet and subdued, but I think his energy will come back with food, water, love, and time. He is a lovebug and wants to be on a lap or next to you at all times! He will not eat any dog food we have tried due to his previous circumstances, and we have not discovered what food he will eat other than people food (hot dogs, pizza crust). He will need a vet visit, to be neutered, and will need vaccinations in case he hasn’t received them. Adoption fee is negotiable depending on home! Please be ready and able to care for him long term, as I don’t want him to experience any more instability!
