Story
Sox (A140720) is a 6-year-old AK Husky x GSD mix who weighed 52.2 pounds on intake! Foster update: We have been fostering 6yo brothers Sox and Mokey since Jan of this year, and they have both been a total delight to have in our dog yard and in our house. Sox and Mokey are both housetrained, capable of being inside without worrying about marking or chewing furniture. They love to play with each other and other dogs, and they get along well with our small 18lb dog. They are also good sled dogs, pulling well on the gangline, easy to bootie up and put in harness, and well-mannered to their partner next to them on the line. They are both good eaters, instantly friendly toward people, and settle down well in new surroundings. They love being able to hang out on a couch and would make excellent pet dogs or sled dogs! 12/29/25 This fun-loving team was surrendered to the shelter and is looking for homes that can keep them active and running! Sox loves to run and can be a little nibbly out of excitement when he sees the harness come out! These boys are brothers and were stated to be AK Husky and German Shepherd mixes with a smidge of pitty mixed in. They are used to living outdoors on dog houses but have been enjoying the warmth of our inside kennels during this cold snap! They were said to love curling up in their straw when outdoors and coming inside to cozy up next to the fireplace. When they can not get out for a run on the sled, they were said to love playing with each other in a fenced-in yard or going on long walks through the woods! They would love to join someone’s rec team or a home that can keep them active and stimulated! If you are interested in meeting Mokey or any of his brothers/teammates, please let us know! Story
Lilo (A140931) is a 3-year-old AK Husky x Pointer mix who weighed 50 pounds on intake!01/22/26 These eager-to-go pups were surrendered to the shelter because their owner is facing some medical concerns and is unable to provide them with the lifestyle they need. They are working dogs and were said to be wonderful sled dogs! All these pups were stated to get along well with other dogs and are great pullers. They are accustomed to living out on a dog house but were said to have enjoyed coming inside during that super cold snap. However, they are not housebroken, and if you do plan on transitioning them to indoors, they will need help adjusting to indoor living – potty training, kennel training, basic commands, etc. They know mushing commands but that is about it. They would love to join a rec team or even to become your adventure buddy if you live an active lifestyle – skijoring, bikejoring, or even becoming your hiking buddy! Anything to keep them both mentally and physically stimulated so they stay out of trouble! If you are interested in meeting any of this crew or possibly the whole gang, please let us know! Story
Chewy (A141750) is a 5-year-old AK Husky who weighed 53 pounds on intake! 04/16/26 This lover boy is Chewy! Chewy was surrendered to the shelter with his friend Tequila! These kiddos have been living the outdoor sled dog life. They are used to living on a doghouse, so if you plan on transitioning them indoors, keep in mind they will need help with all the basics. However, they may be keen to learn! They have previously run a dog team, but their surrendering owner felt they may enjoy being on a smaller rec team or even becoming your skijor buddy. They are an active breed, so they will need continued mental and physical stimulation. Both Tequila and Chewy were said to do well with children, strangers, and adults. They also have historically done well with other dogs and livestock. Please ensure you are making appropriate introductions with all new people and other animals. If you are interested in meeting Chewy, please let us know! June 5, 2026, 9:16 pm
