Kashmere (A134411) is a 1-year and 6-month-old Alaskan Husky who weighed 39.7 pounds on intake! 05/01/24 This sweet and hyper gal is Kashmere! Kashmere was surrendered to the shelter because her owner could no longer care for her. She is quite an active pup and is looking for an owner who can keep her mentally and physically stimulated. Her prior owner stated she is very fast! Kashmere was also stated to be dog-friendly and very playful. She has no history with smaller critters, but huskies are known to have a high prey drive. Please ensure you do slow, safe, and controlled introductions with all new animals. Kashmere was said to be kennel trained but it was not documented if she was fully housebroken. She was also known to be a digger, so her next owner should keep that in mind! If you are interested in meeting Kashmere, please let us know! May 4, 2024, 11:22 pm

Story
Sasha (A126960) is a 7-year-old AK Husky x Lab mix who weighed 82.9 pounds on intake!05/02/24 Sweet, sassy Sasha is back at the shelter and eager to find her new home! She was surrendered back to the shelter because she was defecating inside the home. She was previously said to be housebroken, so she may need a consistent routine and more frequent potty breaks to help break this cycle. Her prior owner also felt that Sasha would be more comfortable in a calmer home setting as she wasnâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t very receptive to the toddler in the home. Sasha was described as loving towards adults and a very sweet girl. She was known to be vocal at times which is really her husky personality shining through! Sasha was also said to bark at other dogs but had no experience with smaller critters in this past home. Please ensure you are doing slow, safe, and controlled introductions with all new people and animal friends! Sasha is very overweight and would highly benefit from going on a diet. We encourage her next owner to reach out to their vet on ways to help her shed those extra pounds! If you are interested in meeting Sasha, please let us know! 11/22/23 Sasha and her friend Jada were surrendered to the shelter and are now looking for their perfect new places to call home! Sasha and Jada were both said to do great with people of all ages including babies and children! At the shelter, these girls have been very friendly toward the care staff! Sasha and Jada were also said to do well with other dogs and cats. Please ensure you are doing appropriate introductions with all new friends! Both Sasha and Jada were said to be kennel trained, housebroken, and to ride well in car. These girls also know a few basic commands but may benefit from attending a basic obedience class to continue working on their manners. They do have a couple of naughty habits like getting into the trash and jumping on people. If you are interested in meeting Sasha or Jada, please let us know!May 4, 2024, 11:22 pm

Story
Chewy would love a new companion(s) who can give him a forever home. I am a rescue dog from an Alaskan village and I love with my heart and soul! I have great manners, like staying out of the kitchen, off the bed and the furniture. I don't bite, bark, growl, jump or destroy belongings. I am very clean and independent as well as self sufficient in case you have a doggie door for me to use. I am very good at relaxing or soaking up the sun out in the yard. I sleep thru the night and will indicate when I am ready to go outside, either to do my business or take a stroll. I can do a leash and a harness, or go without, if allowed to explore. I have never tried to skijor or bikejor, but I have a sweet spirit and enjoy being outside while playful and energetic, I sometime have selective hearing, so I would benefit from some basic training. Regardless I am an easy keeper who is soft and loves to cuddle! I ride easy in the car and will be a loyal and affectionate companion.

Story
Griz had his wellness exam. He is estimated to be around 13, he has a lot of muscle loss more in his shoulders than his hips. His teeth are worn down but otherwise ok and no need to pull any, thank goodness! He can see pretty well and still has his hearing. He is a wonderful senior. Zero reactivity while at the vets with people, loves other dogs and even tolerated a nail trim with no issues. While he is still intact, at his age it's not worth going under anesthesia for. Griz still has some great years ahead of him, if someone is looking for a senior to give a warm bed in the winter, a dry bed in the rain, a bug free place to lay his head in the summer and give him for the first time in his life, a life off the chain. Griz can be free to roam in the house. He does excellent by himself. He is using a dog door to go potty. He only barks when it's breakfast/dinner time. He is an absolutely amazing boy. Such as easy keeper. please fill out an application found on the rescue's website at Agsrescue.com. Griz is now on Gabapentin, CBD oil and some joint supplements. I've added some supplements to the rescue's wishlist if you like to help support Griz https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/M7MKBADU9EZT?ref_=wl_share

Story
Luna (A133844) is an Alaskan Malamute x Husky mix who weighed just under 50 pounds on intake! 04/29/24 Luna, previously known as Nikita, is back at the shelter because she was not meshing well with the other female dog in the home. Luna was said to do great at the dog park but may prefer being the only dog in her home. She was said to be unbothered by cats. Please ensure you are doing slow, safe, and controlled introductions with all new friends for the best chance at a positive introduction! Luna was said to do fabulous with people and loved meeting new friends of all ages! Luna was said to be partially kennel-trained and housebroken. She was known to howl when in a kennel and would run in circles when she needed to go outside to go potty. In typical husky fashion, Luna was known to be quite the talker. Overall this girl was described as an outgoing, friendly, and affectionate girl! She is looking for the perfect place to call home! Luna was seen by the shelter vet and treated for a minor skin infection on her nose but is in the clear to be adopted! If you are interested in meeting Luna, please let us know! 03/12/24 Nikita was surrendered to the shelter with her ½ brother Schinook because their prior owner could no longer physically care for them. Nikita and Schinook were said to be best buds and might enjoy going to a home together. We are not requiring that they be adopted together but if you have the space for 2 big fluffy pups, please consider this duo! Both Nikita and Schinook were said to be housebroken, ride well in a car, and know some basic commands! We do encourage their next owner to continue with their training. Nikita and Schinook were said to great with everybody they have met but do not have any real experience with babies or children. We have noticed that Nikita is a tad more shy. They did come from a home with small dogs but were said to have a high prey drive. We think they would do best in a home without any small critters. Please ensure you are doing appropriate introductions with all new animals. Both Nikita and Schinook are big active dogs. They are looking for a home that can keep them both mentally and physically stimulated. When bored they were known to get into trouble by digging, chewing, and scratching. We also encourage their next owner to work on kennel training and making that a safe and positive space for them! If you are interested in meeting Nikita or possibly both Nikita and Schinook, please let us know! May 4, 2024, 11:22 pm

Story
Nala (A124248) is a 3-year-old akita who weighed almost 60lbs at intake!05/03/24 Sweet little miss Nala is back at the shelter because her breed was restricted in her previous owners' new housing. Nala is a wonderfully social girl who is said to be kennel trained and housebroken. She was said to be gentle with babies and to love kids! Nala is said to be friendly with everyone, and she likes to play with other dogs and even pocket pets! Nala was said to tolerate cats, but it would appear they are not her favorite. She was said to ride well in the car and was described as being outgoing, friendly and affectionate. If you are itnerested in meeting this young girl, please give the shelter a call!07/15/21 This beautiful little pup is Nala. Nala was surrendered to the shelter with her two siblings because the owner had too many animals and was unable to care for them. If you are not familiar with the Akita breed we strongly recommend you to do research prior to adopting. These guys can be quite stubborn and need early and intensive training and socialization to be on their best behavior, as they will soon grow into large and strong adults! These puppies have been friendly with their animal tenders but will need all the basic puppy training such as obedience, kennel training, and potty training. If you are interested in meeting one of the puppies please give the shelter a call!May 4, 2024, 11:22 pm
