Story
Trooper is a smart, loyal boy who truly loves his people and his pack. Inside the home, he is mellow and easygoing, but once outdoors, his playful, energetic side shines. He is a big fan of fetch, tug‑of‑war, daily walks, and backyard playtime. Chew toys and bones are also high on his list of favorite things. Trooper would thrive in a home with a yard and plenty of companionship and patience; another friendly pet or someone who works from home or is retired would be ideal. He knows basic commands like sit and stay, is fully potty‑trained, and walks well on‑leash. He was not well socialized when he was younger, so he can be nervous around unfamiliar dogs. With patience and positive experiences, he can continue building confidence. Trooper is not crate-trained and does have separation anxiety, so he needs an adopter willing to help him work through that with gentle structure and consistency. He is healthy, up‑to‑date on vaccinations, and ready for a loving home.

Why this pet is the one for you:Itzcuintli is a 2-year-old dog who is looking for a patient and understanding adopter to help him continue building confidence. He can be fearful in new situations and around unfamiliar people, but he has shown that he is capable of warming up with time, consistency, and gentle encouragement. Once trust is established, his progress and growing comfort are rewarding to see. He would do best in a home that can move at his pace and celebrate the small victories along the way. Itzcuintli is ready for a caring home that will give him the support he needs to thrive. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for adoption!
