Story
Meet Milo! Milo was surrendered because his family is moving out of the country, and sadly, he can't join them. Milo is 10 years old and weighs 7 lbs. Soon after becoming a Frosted Face on November 6th, Milo was thankfully chosen to live in a Foster home with a very patient and understanding family. After 5 weeks, they report that Milo is slowing decompressing and adjusting to being in a new home after being left behind by his family. While Milo is adjusting to certain aspects of daily life, his foster mom and dad are not able to clean him, bathe him, or attempt any routine care that would require coming near his face. Personality & Behavior: Milo is described as a dog who prefers life on his own terms. He's made progress in allowing some basic handling, like being scooped up from the bottom with a blanket. However, he still reacts negatively to being touched on his sides or any attempt to handle his face, such as grooming. Behavior in the house: Milo gets up & down from the furniture at will, using the ramps set up by his foster family to make it easy. Sometimes, he is okay with people sitting near him, but he usually prefers to go to the other end of the couch where he's content to be part of family life from afar. Milo's other favorite spot is his secret Bat Cave where he has an unrestricted view of the family room and kitchen (see photo). Milo is house-trained and has been 100% accident-free for the past 5 five weeks in his foster home. Interactions with Other Dogs: Milo is gentlemanly when meeting other dogs on walks and enjoys sniffing and tail wagging with new acquaintances. However, he becomes more possessive at home, showing some territorial behavior toward the other dogs, though this remains at a growl level for now. Milo will need a patient and understanding adopter who is willing to work with him through his behavioral challenges. His ideal home will be one where he can continue to grow at his own pace. He is not a dog who will thrive in an environment that forces too much change too quickly. Milo does best in a peaceful setting with a safe space to retreat to when needed. A handler experienced with shy or fearful dogs, especially those who may need a slow, gradual approach to gaining trust and offering medical care, would be ideal. He'll likely benefit from continued behavior conditioning and gentle socialization. If you think you could be the right home for Milo, especially one that can provide him the time, patience, and care he needs, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org.

Story
Meet Byte! Byte entered Riverside County Animal Services as a stray, and when he wasn't claimed during the required hold period, we scooped him up on January 6th to become a Frosted Face. Is there a better way for a shelter dog to start the new year than with a safe exit and the promise of a forever home? Byte is estimated to be 15 years old, and he weighs 8 lbs. A few days after Byte arrived at FFF, he was chosen by a Foster family to live in their home until he is adopted. We are so glad Byte is getting lots of love and pampering in the comfort of a home. Byte's Foster Mom shared this great update: "Byte is a gentle senior gentleman who's found his perfect pace in life! As a 15-year-old pup, he's more interested in relaxation than rigorous exercise. Short, gentle walks are okay, but he's not a fan of long or strenuous activities. Byte's ideal day involves lounging on his favorite bed near his person, sleeping, and enjoying quiet moments. His routine is predictable and comforting: wake up, potty, eat, seek out pets and affection, and then back to bed. He's a low-maintenance companion who thrives on consistency and gentle care. Byte is a grumpy old pup who can be sweet and gentle once he forms a strong bond with his chosen people. He's selective about who he trusts, but once you've earned his affection, he's loyal. Due to his past experiences, he takes time to warm up to new people and may be cautious about being picked up. However, he's made significant progress with my son and me, and we've earned the privilege of picking him up. Byte's greatest strength is his clear communication - he'll warn you if he's feeling uncomfortable or unsafe. As long as his boundaries are respected, he's a happy and peaceful companion. He's done well with our family, including our energetic toddler, as long as we're mindful of his needs. Byte would thrive in a calm and loving home where he can feel safe and receive affection on his own terms. He's looking for a family that will prioritize his emotional well-being and provide a peaceful environment. Ideal Home: * Patient, experienced dog person who finds joy in small wins. * No kids, no chaos, and no expectations of belly rubs on day one. * A quiet place where he can grumble in peace and sleep like the grumpy king he is. At home, Byte lives with our cat, and aside from sneaking in to snack on her food, he treats her with gentle respect. Byte may never be a cuddle bug, but we’ve seen glimpses of sweetness when he lets his guard down. If you’re the kind of person who cheers when a cactus blooms, Byte might just be your soulmate!" Please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org to meet this special boy and give him the loving forever home he so deserves!

Story
Meet Samson! Samson and his sister Pola were entrusted to our care through the Final Wish Program. This is their story: On May 9th , a woman arrived on our patio holding two small senior dogs, Pola and Samson. Grieving and overwhelmed, she was in the midst of planning her mother’s funeral while also caring for her disabled husband. Through tears, she told us her mom had passed away the week before — and that she had promised to do right by her dogs. Pola and Samson are both 12 years old, weigh 12 lbs., and are very sweet. They are currently on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we can learn more about them in a home setting while they receive lots of love and care. Their Fling Mom shared: "These two adorable seniors have completely melted my heart. From the moment they arrived, they’ve been calm, well-behaved, and full of gentle affection—for each other and for me. 💤 They sleep like champions! Through the night, during the day, in the funniest positions (see photos and videos!)—they’ve got their nap game perfected. On their first night here, I set up two dog beds in a row. Pola started in hers but quickly jumped into Sampson’s to snuggle. Pola especially loves curling up close to someone’s body. 🥹 On their second night, they trusted me enough to sleep with me. I felt so honored. They allowed themselves a little independence and each chose their favorite spot—Pola cuddled up right next to my head on a pillow (💖) and Sampson picked a comfy spot a little farther away. It was such a peaceful night. 💉 Pola was recently diagnosed with diabetes and just started insulin. She’s doing amazing—she cuddles right up and lets you give her the shot without a fuss. She does need frequent potty breaks and drinks plenty of water, but she’s so light and easygoing I just want her to gain a bit of healthy weight while she’s with me. 🐒 Sampson is the soft-hearted brother. He needs eye drops morning and night but takes them like a pro. He’s a cuddler too—and a toy collector! His favorite right now is a little monkey that he carries around to his chill zones. His top lounging spot? My couch. Even if no one else is there, he claims it like royalty. ❤️ The bond between them is beautiful. Pola used to stay right by Sampson’s side 24/7, but now she’s gained some confidence and follows me around instead. Still, if she hasn’t seen her brother in a while, she’ll go check on him—then come right back like, “Okay, just making sure he’s still there.” 🍽 They’re both eating well—Pola’s enjoying wet food with special diabetic treats, and Sampson gets a mix of Pedigree kibble and wet food. Tonight, Pola had her first diabetic-friendly “cookie” and was very pleased, while Sampson enjoyed a regular treat alongside her. These two are just gems. If you’re looking for love, laughter, and low-key companionship times two… consider adopting Pola and Sampson!" We would love to find a forever family for Pola and Samson together. Might that be you?
