Story
We got Kona as a sweet pup, from a family friend who raised Pomskys. 5 years old this spring. She absolutely ADORES being outside/going for runs or hikes. Anything that involves running and moving, she’s obsessed with. She knows some cute tricks and will show off for a good treat! She tends to be a picky eater (aka typical husky behavior;) and she is extremely loyal. She chose me as her person, so she feels the need to stick close by my side. She’s typically good with strangers, she’s never bitten or shown aggression. She’s a sweetheart and will cuddle at times, but mostly prefers to snuggle up in her cozy bed. She is amazing with my 2 year old son, licks his hands and lays belly up beside him allowing him to yank and pull on her fur. Having grown up with him caused them to become best friends!! Sadly because of my kids needs we are needing to rehome her. Looking for someone who is willing to exercise her and give her the time she deserves.

These pups are in Wilmington, Delaware too!

Story
ABOUT LUNA Meet princess Luna, a 4-year-old Husky mix seeking a patient, experienced owner who understands her unique personality. Luna arrived at HAP, scared and unsure of the world around her. While we don’t know her full history, it’s clear she has endured some hardships. It took her a while to trust us, so she may need patience at your first meeting, but once she feels safe, her true self shines through! Luna is a sweet, playful, and wonderfully goofy girl with a classic Husky sassiness. She’s vocal about her feelings, loves playing with toys of all kinds, and enjoys chasing tennis balls. She thrives spending time outside sniffing, running, and playing. Once inside, she loves to curl up on her fluffy blankets and chew on her bones. Luna has a “less is more” quality, she’ll leave you wanting more, and she appreciates a slower, respectful approach when first meeting new people. While Luna has been able to pass other dogs with redirection, she hasn’t made any canine friends yet and may do best as the only pet in a home where she can be the pampered princess. Once she feels comfortable, she seeks out and enjoys affection, but she communicates her boundaries clearly and may escalate if her space isn’t respected. For this reason, Luna would thrive with older, respectful family members who understand and honor her communication style. With patience, love, and understanding, Luna will grow into a loyal and loving companion who brings joy, laughter, and a touch of Husky mischief into your home! **If interested in adopting Luna, please reach out to our trainer, Ben Touchton, at btouchton@hapde.org Our adoption process is on a first-come, best-match basis and we are not able to hold animals. If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match!
