Story
Meet Bolt Please read through everything carefully. We will continue updating as we learn more about this lovely boy. Bolt is a stunning young Pomsky mix currently in our care. He is approximately one year old, neutered, and had a full veterinary workup on 2/27 with Dr. Lozada at Plant City Animal Hospital. Be sure to watch the posted videos. One shows how beautifully he walks on leash. The other captures his adorable habit of kneading and suckling a blanket like a kitten. The Good Stuff Bolt is: • Excellent on leash • Crate trained • Potty trained (no accidents in our care) • Extremely affectionate He prefers to be near his people and is overwhelmingly cuddly. He welcomes hugs, happily curls into a tight ball in your lap, gives kisses, and loves playtime. He would likely enjoy sleeping near his person. He has wonderful manners. He does not beg while you are eating and does not jump unless invited. He listens to “no” and responds quickly to correction. He enjoys toys and interactive play. He can get gently mouthy if invited into that kind of play but does not initiate it and knows not to bite down. He was clearly socialized appropriately as a puppy. At the vet, he showed zero fear. He greeted staff confidently and even tried to follow Dr. Lozada to the back. He is emotionally steady and socially confident. With Other Dogs We introduced him to our female dogs one at a time. He is playful and can get excited, sometimes attempting to mount when overstimulated, but he responds immediately to correction. His play is not rough, just enthusiastic. He will posture and push back if challenged, so he may not be ideal for a home with another strong alpha dog unless experienced. He is non-reactive and settles calmly even when separated by a baby gate. He is easily redirected and manageable, which makes future training very promising. Routine & Daily Life He has had no potty accidents. We used to crate at night and when leaving the house. He will do it, but he will bark and not like it much. So we have stopped crating him and leave him in a room with the door open and a baby gate up. He has adjusted well to nighttime alone and is no longer barking once settled into routine. He may briefly protest during transitions in a new home he will settle in. , as he is young and will chew accessible items like cords or shoes. He rides well in the car and loves pup cups. Dog seatbelts are mandatory. Important Safety Requirements Bolt is a runner. This is a husky trait, not a behavior flaw. He must always be secured in an escape-proof harness clipped to a martingale collar when outside of a fully contained area. We will provide both at adoption. We strongly prefer a secure 6 ft fenced yard (not chain link). Extra caution must be taken at doors and gates. Diet He is currently eating Proplan mixed with canned of the same formula. GPS Requirement All Shiba Saviors adoptions require active GPS tracking. Adopters receive a free FI Mini device and six months of service (adopter pays $20 activation fee). ⸻ Bolt is young, affectionate, confident, and highly trainable in the right hands. We are seeking a fantastic home experienced with flight-risk breeds who understands containment and is ready to bond deeply with an exceptional young dog. Applicants will be reviewed, and interviews and meet-and-greets scheduled as appropriate. Adoption fees will be discussed during that process. Story
Furry boy with a lot of love to give! Loves: attention and snuggles, bananas and berries, and getting his face cleaned with a warm towel every morning. Dislikes: being domineered by small children or people he sees as peers, being ignored or left alone frequently, the hair dryer, when it’s coming for him. We’re a family who is out more and more frequently which has created a lot of anxiety for him. He will need to be neutered. If you have another animal who has accidents in the house, he will mark over their accident. This is new so I believe it will stop once he is neutered. He will need training, specifically with the leash and jumping. Listens great to basic commands after I’m home with him a couple of days and then it all goes to dust when I go back to work. I believe he’d be a great dog for someone working from home and with none or older children. I want him to go to an amazing home so please include as much info as possible when reaching out.
