Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Volunteer fave in the house! Bram arrived at the shelter on 9/29/2024, after he went unclaimed at the city pound. He's a happy and energetic husky mix with icy blue eyes. We do think he's mixed with some type of herding breed. He's friendly and ready for action at all times. He's also very loving. His size is in the medium range and he's around 3 years old. He has been vet checked, neutered, and chipped. His fee is $150. We're hoping to find Bram a home that has some experience with husky types. They are notorious clowns who love to run! Bram does require basic obedience training and a lot of regular exercise to keep him settled. He loves to play and be with people. He has a tendency to be strong willed so he needs an experienced owner who is ready and willing to work with this. Cats are most likely a no for him. An adult only home would be best and a fenced yard would be perfection. He could do well with a well mannered dog of similar size. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application as been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 15, 2026, 3:24 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Stella arrived from the city pound on 7/24/25, after her legal hold was finished and no one had claimed her. She is around 2 years old and appears to be a shepherd/husky mix, but there could be some other breeds in there, too. She's a little shy at first but is very nice once she feels comfortable. She has been fully vetted and microchipped and her fee is $150. Stella is pretty well mannered and very intelligent. She is the epitome of a canine princess and would prefer to be the only pet in the home. As beautiful as she is, she deserves that! She has had a bit of basic training but would be willing to learn more. She's a younger dog who will require regular exercise. Huskies and their mixes are sometimes known as runners, so a secure environment would be best for Stella. We think older kids would be fine.  Note:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rowdy arrived at MCHS on 6/13/2026, a transfer from one of our rescue friends after originally coming from a South Dakota Reservation area. He is a solid young shepherd looking mix who is around 6 to 9 months old and has some growing left to do. He will need some basic training and has a great attitude. He will be vet checked and neutered on June 23rd and his fee is $150. Rowdy generally resembles a German shepherd and has the ears and coloring of one, but he definitely could have some other breeds in his mix, like husky and various types of herding breed dog. Heelers and other herding breeds and their mixes are very common on Reservations. He is strong and active so he'll definitely need some good exercise. We do think he'd do well with other dogs. Cats? Maybe, with work and training. He does tend to live up to his name a little bit. He'd probably do okay with older kids, too.
