***This dog is being housed at the Rochester Animal Control facility. In order to meet him, you need to fill out an adoption application first. These can be found on the homepage of the Paws and Claws Humane Society Website. Once you submit your application, a staff member will reach out with next steps.***Meet Thane... pronounced `Taw-nee`.This older girl found her way to the Rochester Animal Control when her owner sadly passed away and she had no where else to go. Thane is a 9 and a half year old husky and weighs about 66 pounds. Her ideal home would be one where her people are home often or when they do leave, take her with them. She gets nervous and stressed when she is alone for long periods as she just misses her people!Thane is on the older side and has some mild discomfort in her hips and back. A single level home or a home with limited stairs would be the best for her. Even though she is considered a senior, she still has plenty of spunk and energy left in her! She would love to be able to go on walks with her family or explore a backyard. If you think your home is well suited for Thane, apply online today!Adoption fee is $350 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Bandit is a true, classic Husky through and through. He is intelligent, energetic, independent, and full of personality. He thrives on activity and mental stimulation and will do best in a home that understands and appreciates typical Husky traits. Bandit needs to be the only pet in the home. He is not comfortable sharing his space with other animals, and this boundary will be important for his long term success and everyone’s safety. He would benefit from continued behavioral training and consistent structure. Bandit is best suited for an adopter with prior Husky experience who understands the breed’s needs for exercise, leadership, and enrichment. An active home where he can get plenty of physical outlets and routine will help him shine. Opportunity Arises (OA) is a mellow, gentle soul who is just beginning to discover how wonderful life can be outside of a breeding facility. True to his nickname, OA loves relaxing in his favorite spot by the fireplace and enjoys the calm companionship of his foster dog friend, Willy. OA is learning all sorts of “dog things” for the very first time. He happily goes outside and has even started doing a cute little twirl when he hears, “Do you want to go outside?” He follows Willy’s lead, though coming back inside is still a work in progress—and that’s okay. Everything is new to him. He eats twice a day with no food aggression, is gentle with his toys, and has been perfect in the house so far—no accidents at all! OA is quiet and docile; his foster has only heard him bark a couple of times, and only while outside. As he gains confidence, we believe he’ll show more of his playful side. Because OA is a retired breeding dog, life in a home is brand new. Stairs, leashes, potty training, and fast-moving objects can be scary for him. He currently will do 2 stairs to go outside but can not do a flight of stairs. He is not leash trained at all and at 31 pounds, he may need to be carried. He is making progress, but patience and understanding will be key as he continues to adjust. OA will require another dog in the home to help guide him and give him confidence, as well as a securely fenced yard. A calm, predictable environment will help him blossom into the sweet companion he’s meant to be. We have not seen him around cats. OA has only been out of the breeding facility for a short time, but his gentle heart is already shining through.
