You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.HEX hails from the Northern community of Sandy Lake and came south with his brother, Hoppity, to find his forever home. He’s UtD on his vaccines including Rabies, he’s microchipped, had Interceptor Plus dewormer and has been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. We don’t have any information on his parents so the breeds we think he is an educated guess based on what he and his brother look like and the same can be said of the size he’ll grow to be as well. He’s a gentle, quiet, very loveable boy who loves his hoomans almost as much as he loves other dogs and everyone’s always greeted by a happy, tail wagging boy. HEX is working on his crate training but unfortunately the first time he was left alone in it the fire alarm “low battery” announcement started going off so it freaked poor HEX right out and he chewed up his bed, blanket and the tray in his crate. So it’s been a challenge for his foster to get him settled in there again but she’s nailed it! He was in his crate yesterday with no issues and we’re sure he now understands that the alarm isn’t associated with his crate. He’s housetrained  and will let you know when he needs to go outside for a bathroom break. He really is a smart boy and seems to know exactly what’s expected of him and he’s always looking for you to give him direction. He loves to go on walks and gets excited when he knows he’s going on one. He’s had no formal leash training so he does tend to pull but he wears a front clip harness and he does much better while wearing that. One of the cutest things he does is graze on his food as he very rarely finish his meal all at once. After a while he will paw on his bowl and eat the remains kibble if the floor. He’s very well mannered and at meal times he’ll “sit” nicely for them and he’ll also take treats “gentle.” HEX would love his family to be an active one who loves the outdoors and to go on hikes and walks in the woods. He does need a family that’s has Husky experience and understands the complex nature that comes with the breed. In his case, he’s a very good boy now but without the breed experience he could easily become more challenging the older he gets. He does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive, especially if it leads to an adventure for him. He’s fostered with another dog and they get along really well together. And will romp and play until they just tire themselves out. He lived with 2 cats in his previous home so he should do well in a home with them providing they’re dog savvy. If there’s a dog in his new home we did need them at the meet and greet with him to see how they interact together. We always recommend a slow, monitored introduction with the resident dog while he’s leashed for the first few times they meet or interact. Children should be aged 10yrs and up due to his happy-go-lucky bouncing around plus they should be loving, gentle and kind towards animals. He does require a fenced-in yard so he can be kept safe while he has a run around and play so an apartment is not suitable home for him. HEX is an adolescent who’s had no formal training to speak of and although he’s a cute, playful, fun guy he will only be adopted to a family that’s going to be totally dedicated to getting him the mandatory training he needs. He’ll also need time, patience and dedication to both him and his training for him to end up being the greatest dog he can be.  It should be noted that HEX was previously known as Hippity and was returned to the rescue after being adopted at just 3 months old and then returned to the rescue at 7.5 months of age. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.LUMINOX hails from the Northern community of Poplar Hill and came south along with her 4 puppies to find living homes. She was a loving, attentive mum and now she deserves to get that loving family she’s always dreamed of. She’s spayed, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We can definitely see the Husky in her but not so much the Lab but she does have the loving, soft nature of one. So basically the breeds are just our assumption and she probably has many more in her too. She’s a bit under weight so could still do with gaining a few pounds which she should now seeing as she’s no longer nursing her puppies. She’s a sweet girl who just wants snuggles, toys and food. She loves her people and will be their shadow and follow them room-to-room because she doesn’t want to lose sight of them. Belly rubs? Did someone say belly rubs? This girl absolutely loves them and when she has her fosters full attention, she’ll then flop onto the floor and roll over so she can get that full-on belly rub.   LUMINOX is crate trained and will sleep well in it at night but not such a fan of it in the daytime so she is kept in a secure room and will settle down f er right away. She does well on her walks but we do not recommend anytime soon that she be off leash until her new owner is well acquainted with her and she’s very trusting of them. She’s housetrained and will let you know when she has to go outside for a bathroom break. She loves her belly rubs and will lean into her foster to let her know she wants them and when she gets their full attention she’ll then flop on the floor for her to give them. She loves to be in the water and she’ll run into it at full tilt and then lay down in it especially after a nice long walk in the woods. She enjoys car rides but sometimes needs bit of a boost to get her in there. She has the funniest quirk of when she’s going somewhere she’ll flop on the ground and go limp. However, she’s fine to be picked up and her smaller size makes it easier to manoeuvre her. She’ll do this sometimes at night when it’s bedtime and time to get her into her crate. She does this as she’d much rather stay with her people and she envisions herself lying on the bed rather than in the crate. She’s well socialized with dogs of all sizes and a lot of different breeds and she also has 2 of them in her foster home. They walk and play well together and love to burn off energy by playing chase in the back yard. She does have a prey drive so we’re saying no cats or critters in her new home. She’s only met children aged 10 plus and did very well with them so we are recommending they should be over the age of 10yrs and be gentle and loving towards animals.  LUMINOX loves to play with toys especially the squeaky ones. She has to be monitored with them though as she’ll chew through them pretty quick to get at that squeaker. So we’re recommending the toughest toys for her like the Kong brand and Nyla bones to chew on. She’s very food motivated so it’s very easy to teach new tricks and commands with treats. She already knows sit, paw, down, come and stay to name a few. Although she already knows these commands we do strongly recommend that her new owner take her to obedience/training school and it’s also a great way for her owner to bond with her. She’s great at sniffing out kibble too and has raided her kibble bin a couple of times so food should be kept well out of her reach. She doesn’t show any signs of  resource guarding with people when it comes to food or toys and they can safely be taken from her. She does require a fenced in yard and one that is secure as she’ll go on a mission to find gaps in it and try to escape. She does have a prey drive so  absolutely no cats or small critters in the home for her. She’s received two sets of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and has been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We really don’t know the size she’ll grow to be as we have no information on either parent but right now she’s pretty small for her age but that doesn’t necessarily mean she’ll be on the smaller size as an adult. The same can be said about the breeds we’ve stated as we just go by what she looks like to us. She’s just the sweetest little girl and has one blue eye and one brown one. She’s snuggly and will lay in your arms like a baby.  JILL-O-LANTERN is a quiet little girl both in personality and nature. She’s the gentlest little soul you could ever imagine and she’s super smart too. She’s definitely the one to take a step back from something new rather than a step forward to investigate. She enjoys playing with her stuffies, chew on Nyla bones for her teething, throw her rope toys around, basically play with anything that squeaks. She loves being told she’s a good girl and definitely loves attention. JILL-O-LANTERN does really well in her crate and goes in it at night and sleeps without a peep. She will also take a nap in it during the day. She’s doing great with her housetraining and hasn’t had an accident in her foster home for a few weeks now but if she goes in her pen then she’ll use a pee pad. She’s only just started to go for short walks and like all puppies she’ll excitedly race ahead of you. She’s not food motivated at all and she does like to graze on her kibble. She can be quirky with her food too as if some kibble spills on the floor then she won’t eat it. She has good manners and will “sit” for her food and treats plus she’ll also take them “gentle.” JILL-O-LANTERN’s ideal family should be a quiet one but also an active one. She loves going in a vehicle and will sit quietly in her crate as she’s driven around. She has an adventurous side so she would love her family to take her on hikes and walks on the trails. She 3 dogs in her foster home so if there’s one in her new home they should be gentle and calm just like she is. She has met other dogs in the neighbourhood while on her walks and so far she’s happily greeted them all. It’s recommend that if there’s a dog in her new home then a slow, monitored introduction should be made between them while the resident dog’s kept leashed for the first few initial introductions. She’s fostered with 2 cats and several kittens so she should do well with one in her new home. She should be kept leashed while introductions are made for the first couple of times. She can be an only pet in the home provided she’s not left alone for long periods of time every day. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving, gentle and kind towards animals. She does require a fenced-in yard so she can be kept safe while she has a run around and play. JILL-O-LANTERN, like all puppies is cute, playful and fun but will also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the spay requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of her (preferably in her onsie or cone) in order to do the reimbursement.
