Meet Rufus! This goofy guy is ready to find a family all his own. Rufus has been opening up more and more each day here at the shelter but we know he will truly blossom once he is in a home. An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. Story
Meet Estelle, a gentle little soul with a heart full of quiet love and a soft spot for cozy companionship. She's a 12 year old Pug mix who weighs about 18 pounds. This sweet senior is the kind of dog who doesn’t ask for much, just a warm place to land, a kind human nearby, and a comfy spot to curl up at the end of the day. Estelle is currently settling into foster life and making steady progress with house training. She’s learning her routine and happily heads outside when given the chance, though she’s still figuring out how to communicate her needs. Since she’s deaf, she experiences the world in her own beautifully unique way, using her voice and body language to connect. She may bark to get your attention, but she’s already learning that gentle patience and consistency go a long way. This lovely lady is a professional sidekick. She enjoys following her person from room to room and would be more than happy to claim a spot in your lap when invited. She also does wonderfully in her crate and has been transitioning to sleeping peacefully on a dog bed nearby, always wanting to be close to her people. Estelle has a low-key lifestyle and is perfectly content with short outings in a fenced yard where she can explore at her own pace. She’s not asking for long hikes or busy adventures, just a safe space to wander and sniff. She coexists well with other calm dogs and would likely do best with a gentle companion or in a quieter home environment. Because of her deafness and easygoing nature, Estelle would thrive in a home with older, respectful children or adults who understand her need for a calm, predictable space. She may need to be fed separately to avoid any food mix-ups, but she’s otherwise a very easy houseguest. Estelle is the kind of dog who quietly changes your world. She won’t demand the spotlight, but before you know it, she’ll have claimed a permanent place in your heart. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion to share slow mornings and peaceful evenings, Estelle is ready to be your girl. Her minimum adoption fee is $200 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Meet Benji — Your Sweet, Snuggly, Playful Little Gentleman Benji is a 3‑year‑old, 17‑pound bundle of affection who lives for human connection. This boy absolutely adores cuddles, gentle pets, and being close to his people. If you’re looking for a loyal shadow who melts into your lap, Benji is your guy. When he’s not soaking up love, he’s happily entertaining himself in the yard with his giggle ball or favorite toys. He’s social with other dogs but also confident enough to enjoy his own space — the perfect balance of friendly and independent. Benji has shown curiosity toward neighborhood cats, though he hasn’t been fully tested, so a proper introduction would be needed. He’s crate trained and currently working on his potty training, making steady progress with routine and patience. This sweet, affectionate boy is ready to blossom in a nurturing home where he can feel safe, loved, and part of the family. If you’re looking for a gentle companion with a big heart and a playful spirit, Benji is waiting to meet you.

Story
Meet Gopher, an 8-year-old English Bulldog mix weighing in at 45.9 pounds, and officially living his best “retired gentleman with hobbies” life. This lovable guy may be visually impaired, but don’t let that fool you, he navigates the world with confidence, curiosity, and a whole lot of heart. Now that Gopher has settled into a foster home, we’ve learned he’s the ultimate easygoing companion. His favorite activities include supervising your every move, following you from room to room like a devoted little shadow, and offering his signature commentary. He’s quite the talker, though interestingly, not much of a barker. Think more conversationalist than alarm system. Gopher is wonderfully well-mannered. He does great in a crate and sleeps soundly through the night, though his foster thinks he’d likely do just fine with more freedom. He walks nicely on leash, rides like a pro in the car, and doesn’t ask for much in the exercise department. A little yard time and lounging around the house suit him just fine. Socially, Gopher is a gold star. He’s friendly with dogs, men, women, and has done great with young children, including a busy 4-year-old. He seems to genuinely enjoy being part of the action and is always curious about what his people are up to. And perhaps his most unexpected trait? Gopher LOVES bath time. Not tolerates… loves. He’ll happily try to hop in the tub whenever the opportunity presents itself, which is equal parts hilarious and adorable. Gopher would do well in just about any home. While a fenced yard would be a bonus, it’s not a requirement. What he really needs is a person (or people) to love, follow around, and keep tabs on throughout the day. His minimum adoption fee is $100 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives. Story
If you’re looking for a happy, fun-loving sidekick, Jack Jack might be your perfect match! He’s a friendly, outgoing pup who loves being part of the action—whether that means chasing a frisbee, going for a walk, or squeezing into your lap for some quality cuddle time. He's an 8-year-old Boston Terrier who weighs 26.2 pounds. Jack Jack has been diagnosed with lumbosacral disease and may also have Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD), which can affect the spine. Because of this, he has some ataxia, meaning his gait can be a bit wobbly at times. The good news is that he is comfortable and not currently in pain, and he gets around just fine in his day-to-day life.   Jack Jack is mostly house-trained, though a belly band can help when he’s roaming the house. He tolerates his crate just fine, but his true preference is snuggling up in bed with his humans at night. This playful guy enjoys toys, a good game of fetch or frisbee, and romping around with his canine pals. He does well with other dogs and has been great with children, including his foster’s youngest human sibling who is 8. Cats, however, are not his thing, so he’ll need a cat-free home. While a fenced yard isn’t required, it would definitely be a dream for him to have a safe place where he can zoom around and burn off some of that happy energy. If you’re looking for a dog who will make you laugh, keep you company, and always be ready for the next adventure (or cuddle), Jack Jack might be your guy! His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
