Story
Buddy! Thats his name AND his personality. This friendly pooch is ready to be your best bud and you are just in luck because he needs a new family to call his own. He is always willing to meet new human friends and give them a nice little how-do-you-do sniff. He can be a little shy/nervous at first and prefers to walk circles around you to check-you-out. He comes around very fast and soon he will be your bestest pal asking for pets, playtime and snackies. What does Buddy REALLY love though? DOGS! If you want to see Buddy come to life with the zoomies, bring him another canine friend. He gets along well with other dogs and his favorite thing to do is to get the other dog to try and chase him! He is a bit of a chonky boy so hes not the fastest (and would definitely lose at a game of tag) but it is so fun to watch him go go go!Speaking of being a chonky boy, his new owner will have to keep him on track with a good diet and not too many treatos as he needs to lose a few pounds. He tries to be a bit picky (only eating wet food or treats) to try and convince you to always give him the good junky foods. Otherwise, Buddy is a healthy boy that is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated.Buddy previously had ongoing eye issues in the past but it has been repaired and has no further issues at this time.If you are interested in adopting Buddy, please call the West Region Shelter at 416-338-6271 to get the process started.

Story
Hello! My name is Boo! I'm a friendly and very exuberant girl! I don't seem to have any training and am new to walking on leash. It's a bit scary so far. I'm looking forward to joining a family that has the patience and time for my puppy energy and the training that comes with that. I would love to go to training classes and my GHS friends are strongly recommending it to set me and my new family up for success!MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES...CHILDREN: Yes, older and respectful children.OTHER DOGS: Yes, a small or medium dog who will enjoy my puppy energy!CATS: Potentially, with cats confident and experienced with dogs and an owner experienced with the introduction.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: Potentially, if you have strong dog knowledge and some dog experience as I am new to some things like walking on leash. And I would do best with someone who has strong pug knowledge, as we are brachycephalic and have needs associated with that.FENCED-IN YARD: No.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any. SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME...ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.I'M ON A PRESCRIPTION DIET: No. HOUSE-TRAINED: No, I will need some help with house-training. If you think I could be a good match for your home, click the "adopt me" button to apply!

Story
Harley is a very goofy girl who is amazing with all of our staff members. She is a treat-eating machine! One of her favourite things is getting butt rubs, though she also enjoys playing with her food puzzles. She does like to go for walks, but is generally pretty lazy and enjoys lounging. There have been instances of resource guarding with dogs and strangers, so she would do best in a home with no children or other pets. Harley is very loyal to her people and will become your shadow if you give her a chance!

Story
Austin is an independent little guy! He enjoys playing ball, exploring the grass and going for long walks. He will be sure to love you forever if you give him lots of butt scratches. Austin came from a home where kids did not respect his space, therefore he can bite when he is resource guarding. He has been doing amazing with us but will need a home that is comfortable working through this and also allowing Austin to have lots of quiet time and a safe place. Ideally, Austin would do well in a quiet household with only adults.

Mackey

English Bulldog

Male, 11 yrs 3 mos
King City, ON
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Mackey was rescued after a life of living outside all alone. This powerhouse is such a fun loving boy! Mackey does not trust new people easily but with a proper introduction and lots of time, he learns to share his things and give affection. Once comfortable with his people, he listens well and is bouncy and playful. Mackey will need an experienced adult family to manage his resource guarding and teach him how to live in a house. Mackey is very intelligent and has learned many different ways to control these behaviors. He will need continued practice with muzzle training for vet visits and boundaries in the home to control his resource guarding. With clear guidance and reward for desired behavior, Mackey can easily learn to live in a home. Mackey has a high prey drive which makes him aggressive towards small dogs and wildlife. He will need lots of control on walks, distance away from all dogs, constant obedience training and positive reinforcement to keep him in a good mindset and paying attention to his owner. Mackey would do best in a house with a fully fenced yard.
