Story
Say hello to Pugberto, a handsome little Pug mix from Mexico who is ready to trade his days of waiting for a lifetime of love. Pugberto may not take up much room in your home, but he certainly takes up a BIG place in your heart. This funny, playful, incredibly photogenic boy has a personality that is impossible to forget. Pugberto is happiest when he is close to his people. Pick him up and cuddle him, and you'll quickly discover one of his favorite things in the world. He absolutely loves affection, being carried, and having those adorable cheeks gently squeezed. But don't let his cuddly side fool you - Pugberto also knows how to have fun! He enjoys playing, especially when there are good chewing toys involved. With his medium energy level, he would love a family who will include him in daily life, give him regular walks and playtime, and then let him settle in beside them for some well-earned cuddles. And there is one very important thing you should know about this little guy: Pugberto is a professional food thief. If you leave a snack or unattended plate within reach, he may decide that it has been personally offered to him. His future family will need to keep food safely out of his way - because Pugberto apparently believes that every meal is a community meal, and he is the community! On walks, Pugberto is a good leash companion and enjoys getting out to explore. He could adapt well to a variety of homes with the right family and routine. When it comes to other dogs, Pugberto has some preferences. He generally does best with female dogs. Slow, careful introductions are important, and he may be happiest as the only male dog in the home or alongside a compatible, spayed female. Pugberto is also frightened by thunderstorms. During storms, he will need a family who understands that fear and will help him feel safe. A quiet indoor space, closed curtains and windows, comforting companionship, and a cozy place to retreat can help him get through those scary moments. What Pugberto needs most is not perfection. He needs understanding and someone who will laugh at his silly antics, protect him from stormy nights, keep the dinner table safely guarded, give him toys to chew, take him for walks, and - most importantly - give him the love and security he deserves. In return, Pugberto promises to bring his whole personality with him: the playful moments, the hilarious food-stealing attempts, the cuddles, the funny expressions, and those irresistible cheeks. Good with women: Yes Good with men: Yes Good with kids: Yes older children recommended as his interactions with kids has been limited Good with other dogs: Yes, but prefers females. If there is another dog in the home, a female would be the best match. We truly appreciate your patience while we work through this issue — and thank you for wanting to help a rescue dog    — Loyal Rescue Name/Tag#: Osiris 3785 Age: 18 months Sex/Altered: Male / Neutered Weight: 5 lbs Breed: Chihuahua mix Foster Home Location: OTTAWA, ON Adoption Fee: $900.00 Temperament: Sweet, playful, curious, loving, Activity/Energy Level: Low Up to date on Shots: Yes Housebroken: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Ok with Dogs: Good with small dogs but dogs bigger than 10 lbs Ok with Cats: No Ok with Kids: No, looking for adult only home Origin: Shelter Release Requirements: A secured fenced yard (no tie out or electric fencing, REMEMBER he could squeeze out of small places), someone home with him, only gets along with small dogs that have good manners.  Meet Osiris! Around my foster home, I'm also known as Babe or Mister—I'll happily answer to them all! I may only weigh 5 pounds, but my heart is absolutely enormous. If there's one thing I've learned about myself, it's that I was made to love people. My favorite place in the world is wherever my humans are... especially at bedtime! I'm needing to find a forever family that doesn't mind sharing the bed with me. Every night, I curl up at the top of the bed, get cozy, and sleep soundly until you tell me it's time to start the day. Because I'm such a tiny little guy, I'm looking for an adult-only home with a securely fenced yard. I'm small enough to squeeze through the tiniest openings, so my safety is very important. I currently live with several other dogs in my foster home and have discovered that I'm happiest with dogs my own size or smaller that aren’t in my personal space all the time. I love playing with my little canine friends, but it has to me on my own terms, I don’t like being pestered when I have had enough play time! Larger dogs are overwhelming for me, and I'm not afraid to let them know I'd prefer they keep their distance. I also enjoy going for walks. If we happen to see a bigger dog, my foster mom simply scoops me up into what she jokingly calls "air jail." The moment I'm safely in her arms, I stop barking, relax, and happily continue our adventure. I truly believe I was put on this earth to love and be loved. Now I'm searching for a forever family who will love me to the moon and back, keep me safe, and make me part of their everyday life. If you think we might be the perfect match, I'd love to receive your application. I can't wait to start the next chapter of my life with a family who will cherish me forever. And now, a few words from my foster mom: Osiris may be tiny, but he has a huge heart and enough personality to fill an entire house! Certified in being your very best friend, this little guy wants to be wherever you are. A person home most of the time would be an ideal home for this little guy. He is  not suited to apartment or multi unit living due to his fear of meeting larger dogs and barking when he hears noises. Osiris has perfected the art of the surprise snack theft. He'll patiently watch you enjoy your fries, waiting for the perfect moment. Before you know it, one has disappeared right out of your hand, and you'll turn to find Osiris happily munching away with the most innocent expression on his face. His clever antics don't stop there. Around the other foster dogs, Osiris quietly watches as they enjoy a favorite bone or toy. The instant an opportunity presents itself, he swoops in, snatches the prize, and settles down to enjoy it himself before the other dog even realizes what happened. It's all done so quickly and confidently that you can't help but laugh. Osiris is incredibly smart, lightning-fast, and always knows exactly what he wants and how to get it. Despite his mischievous side, he doesn't have a mean bone in his little body. He's simply a happy, lovable character with a zest for life, a talent for making people smile, and a heart full of love. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will keep you laughing every day, Osiris is truly one of a kind. Questions?
