Story
Lola is living in a foster home in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. Lola is a 9-year-old sweetheart who’s ready to settle into a calm, loving home where she can soak up all the attention she deserves. She currently lives with two other dogs and does wonderfully with them indoors. Lola is fully housetrained and welcomes new people with a happy, wagging tail—she especially enjoyed all the extra visitors and affection during the holidays! Lola was surrendered due to a change in her family’s work schedule, not through any fault of her own. She’s a laid-back girl who would thrive in a relaxed home, who either has a fenced yard or a family committed to regular walks to help her health. Lola is working on a gradual weight-loss journey, so she’ll need someone who can help her stay active and stick to healthy, portioned meals. Since she’s very food-motivated, structure and exercise will be key to her success. One of Lola’s favorite party tricks is catching treats (but please limit them) tossed gently into the air—she’s always so proud to show it off! With her sweet personality, Lola is ready to be someone’s loyal, loving best friend. Interested in adoption? The first step is an application at paddyspaws.blogspot.com. Please do not apply if pets in the home are not up to date per our website requirements or are not altered. Our rescue adopts to Wisconsin and Illinois. Our requirements for Illinois applications are: excellent vet history, no children under 7 in the home, and an owned home. Wisconsin does not have these requirements, though we will not consider applications where pets are missing core veterinary care. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and once approved a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $250. If you couldn`t tell from his picture, he has been working really hard on his best smile. He is so sweet but also a spunky little guy. UPDATE 1/2/26: Butler is coming out of his shell! He really is quite funny. He loves to play with puppies and doesn`t mind the small dogs. He still likes to play `come get me` when trying to leash him up but we can 100% tell he really likes scratches. He definitely has a spunky sassiness, and is starting to play with us more. He has been doing a lot of play bowing, with his silly `big tough guy` bark, and entices `come get me!` He is really goofy underneath it all. He doesn`t mind being picked up but doesn`t want us to know that yet. He is definitely a chihuahua! (We mean that in the best way). Come see for yourself!!Butler was rescued by Animal Rescue Corps from a double-hoarding case in Tennessee. Butler isn`t sure how he feels about the world just yet, but with time and reassurance, he will learn to enjoy life as mans best friend. He may be wary of staff, but when he gets scared, he always seeks the comfort of a warm lap. While cautious around large dogs, he isn`t afraid to approach smaller ones, puffing out his chest and jumping to incite play.Call Helping Paws to meet Butler.D.O.B: 10-14-23
