Story
Available Now- Desperately seeking a foster or forever home 🙏🏻 I am a precious senior Puggle baby girl who is looking for my happily ever after. I was rescued when my human dad passed away. My human mom passed several years ago and it’s just been me and my dad. Unfortunately, I was found by the Sheriff’s Department while doing a wellness check on my dad. No one knows how long that we were there but I’m hopeful that my mom and dad will wait for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I am a sweet, loving and smart lil girl who just wants a loving family. I am quiet and well behaved. I am good with children and other animals. Please add a lotta unconditional love, sloppy kisses, tail wags and endless happiness to your family and contact jbrescuerangers@yahoo.com for an adoption application and bring me home. I will come with the works (Neutered, up to date on everything, micro chipped, fecal, heart worm tested, monthly heartworm, flea and tick prevented, a free vet visit and medical insurance). What more could a new family ask for? Love and Kisses, Heidi

My dog is a very friendly dog but she has to get to know the person, she doesn’t bite. When I take her out and there is dogs around she starts barking but she is friendly with other person. She is very smart and has a good dog instinct and she protects the house.

Story
Athena Power (female, Terrier mix), Bon Bon Power (male, Chihuahua mix), Chocolate Power (male, Terrier mix), Cookie Power (female, Chihuahua mix), Flower Power (female, Chihuahua mix), Granuda Power (female, Chihuahua mix), Paloma Power (female, Chihuahua mix), and Tobi Power (male, Terrier mix) may all have different faces, sizes, and quirks, but they share one incredible thing in common — a second chance. This group came from a home where they lived their entire lives outdoors, until their family became overwhelmed with caring for so many dogs. They were later transferred to Border Tails Rescue from the Blue Island Police Department, where their journey toward comfort and care truly began. Because they’ve had little exposure to people or the rhythms of indoor life, the Power Dogs are still learning what it means to feel safe. They can be shy, skittish, and even a little spicy when they’re scared — but that’s just fear talking. With time, patience, and gentle guidance, they’re already showing glimpses of the affectionate, curious companions they’re sure to become. They’ll need adopters who can move at their pace, give them space to settle in, and handle them securely outdoors to prevent escapes as they adjust. Double leashing and careful introductions to new people & spaces will be paramount to their safety. The process of earning their trust won’t happen overnight, but when it does, it’s magic — the moment a Power Dog leans in for a cuddle or wags their tail just for you is one you’ll never forget. Once they learn that home is safe, they will return that trust tenfold - often becoming the most loyal, affectionate companions you could imagine. If you’re someone who finds beauty in helping a frightened dog learn what love feels like, one of the Power Dogs might just be waiting for you.

Story
The Drunken Beagles came to us after being rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding case where 45 beagles (including a litter of puppies) were discovered living together in a single garage. Their world had been small and crowded, filled with the sounds and smells of dozens of other dogs but not much else. Most had never felt grass beneath their paws, slept on a bed, or experienced the warmth of human care. Despite their past, these dogs are resilient. Many were fortunate enough to go straight into generous foster homes after transfer to our shelter, where they’re already starting to learn about safety, comfort, and companionship for the very first time. Adopting a dog from a hoarding situation can be one of the most challenging — and rewarding — experiences in rescue. These dogs are learning about life from the ground up: that hands can be gentle, food will always come, leashes can mean adventure, and people can be trusted. Everyday sights and sounds — stairs, vacuums, even televisions — may feel strange or scary at first. Progress can be slow, but watching them open up is nothing short of extraordinary. Reports from our fosters so far are that the Drunken Beagles are quickly becoming more comfortable, exploring their new digs, eating solid meals, and a few even playing with the resident dogs in the home. The Drunken Beagles will need a calm, stable environment and adopters who understand that progress can be slow but so rewarding. They’re flight risks and will require extra care with secure handling, double leashing, and careful introductions to new people and spaces. Once they learn that home is safe, they return that trust tenfold — often becoming the most loyal, affectionate companions you could imagine. If your heart has room for a dog who’s never truly known what “home” feels like, one of the Drunken Beagles might just be ready to raise a glass to a brand-new start with you. And who knows... maybe you'll decide to order two drinks while you're at it. The ladies: Chardonnay, Stella Rose, Bloody Mary, Dirty Martini, Margarita, Mimosa, Mojito, Pink Whitney, and Sex on the Beach. The gentlemen: Beat Box, Buzz Ball, Coors, Daiquiri, Fireball, Piña Colada, Cosmopolitan, Gin, Johnny Walker, Martini, Monaco, Negroni, Sour, Tequila Sunrise, Tom Collins, and Whiskey. All are Beagle mixes estimated to be between one and six years old.
