We adopted Gus at Love at First Sight when he was 11 weeks old. He’s a good boy, great with other dogs and kids. But he is very anxious and so is our other dog. He makes her anxiety worse than it was before. We just can’t give him what he needs anymore and he deserves better. He is so good with our 3 year old daughter. He most likely needs to be an only dog because of his anxiety.

He is incredibly gentle and affectionate, making him a perfect companion. This good boy has done great with children and other animals, meaning he's ready to fit right into a busy or quiet household. Henry is seeking a comfy bed and a quiet home to enjoy his well-deserved retirement. If you have an open heart and a soft spot for a mature, loving dog, Henry is waiting for you!

Tulip was a very scared and anxious young little soul when she came to Bonaparte's Retreat but now that she feels safe with her foster she seems to be doing much better! She does have some calming meds that she needs onboarded if she is going to the vet and we have also learned that her past trauma she must have went through can be very triggered by a harness so if you need to take her somewhere the calming meds will be essential. This girl is the poster dog for a Chi lol. She attaches to one person, feels herself and her spice, and likes some dogs but not all. But if you know Chihuahuas then you will not be surprised by a single thing this young girl does! She also is NOT a fan of the crate and prefers to sleep with you so a crate would not work with this little soul.December 9, 2025, 11:29 am

Sabrina is the happiest girl who loves a ball, a good play session, and to give you lots of snuggles and be your shadow! She does also have a stage 5/6 heart murmur that is in the B2 phase of enlargement which means we have started her on medication which should hopefully help to ward off symptoms for another 7-18 months so yay for that! She can be a normal dog but activity in extreme heat is no good but she is otherwise a happy girl! She does also have some coughing that the vet believes is attributed to a slightly collapsing trachea but no meds are needed for that right now.  Sabrina truly is a dream in a home and has been one of the easiest fosters her foster has ever cared for!November 18, 2025, 1:15 pm

Maybelle is a teeny 17lb Beagle who is extremely anxious and fearful of humans but with a couple of meet & greets or so she can warm but. The family that moved forward with Maybelle will need to know that she is extremely shy but we have a fairly failsafe plan to help her integrate in to a household as we did it very successfully with her fosters and she is very settled in there now.  Maybelle is exit seeking and just take a look back on our socials towards February/March and you will see that she was one that was on the run all over Nashville for about 2 1/2 weeks. So she is a very sweet but timid girl that will just need lots of patience, time, and routine, to settle in to her new home. And an AirTag lol. Maybelle is not a dog that we would trust to be running around off leash, and keeping her leashed will be a very important part of this process and cannot be strayed from. She is VERY snuggly and once she gets to know you she will cuddle and snuggle you and love on you and is such a sweet girl. She has just obviously been through a lot poor girl and just needs regular love and routine to settle in. We also think she would do great with another dog in the household.December 9, 2025, 11:29 am
