When Mindy first arrived at TJO she was a very scared nervous dog. With patience from staff and volunteers, Mindy came out of her shell and has proven to be a friendly, socialble dog. OTHER PETS: Mindy is a playful girl who would likely get along with other dogs who matched her energy level. She should meet any dog she would be living with to ensure a good fit. [Case by Case (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Mindy's owner does not need experience so much as dedication to follow through with some positive reinforcement training. [First Dog] KIDS: While Mindy is a friendly dog, she is also jumpy and mouthy; a home with children would not be a good fit for her. [Adults Only]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mindy enjoys chasing toys and sniffing, and would definitely enjoy a chance to sniff around her neighborhood while walking with her new owner. [Couch Potato / Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement threrapy will help Mindy bond with her new owner as well as ensuring that she knows her basic commands and behavorial expectations. [Minimal] GROOMING: Mindy will need daily brushing and a professional groom every 5-6 months, or professional grooming every 3 months if her owner chooses not to engage in daily brushing; this will prevent Mindy from developing painful matts.
