Story
We've had Evie since she was a kitten. She is a sweet and gentle and loves to be pet. We are looking to rehome her as we regularly travel between Massachusetts and Stowe Vermont for long weekends throughout the year. We also travel for two 2-week vacations each year. During those times, we always have someone spend time with her on a daily basis. Note that we have another cat (full sibling) that does not need to be re-homed. When we are traveling, Evie occasionally urinates on our bed & our furniture (sister is fine). When we come home, she continues to do so for a few days and this eventually slows down or stops until we travel again. However, our travel is an important part of our family and we don't want Evie to be stressed by our travel plans. We've taken her to Stowe Vt on numerous occasions and she seems to get upset when she travels and urinates there or other places we take her. Looking for a loving non-traveling family to be with her more regularly. Thx Russ

Story
Elphaba: A Little Patience for a Lifetime of Love 💜🐾 Hello, friends! Meet Elphaba, a 1.5-year-old Ragdoll mix who has come such a long way since her rough start in life. You may remember the Pampers Kittens—rescued from a diaper box left by a dumpster. While her journey began with fear and uncertainty, Elphaba has been working hard to build her confidence, and she’s now ready to find a patient and understanding forever home! Elphaba is still learning to fully trust humans, and she will need time, patience, and a gentle approach to truly blossom. She warms up best when given space to adjust at her own pace. Once she feels safe, she’ll weave between your legs, rub against you for pets, and lean into those oh-so-good bum scratches! Loud noises and quick movements still startle her, but with reassurance, she recovers quickly. To help her settle in, Elphaba will need to start in a crate—a safe space where she can observe, decompress, and get comfortable with her new surroundings. She also must have a confident, friendly cat in the home to help guide her and continue building her trust. She thrives with feline companionship but isn’t suited for a home with kids or dogs. Elphaba is a furry, purry work in progress, and for the right adopter—one willing to give her the patience she needs—she will be an incredibly rewarding companion. If you’re looking for a special kitty to nurture and watch bloom, Elphaba is your girl! Thank you for your interest in adopting from Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue! Story
Meet Wyatt – Beautiful, Bold, and Not Your Snuggly Lap Cat Let’s be blunt—Wyatt is not your typical “adopt me and love me” kind of cat. This 2-year-old ragdoll mix may look like a soft, fluffy dream, but if you’re expecting purrs and cuddles, you’re in for a reality check. Wyatt is independent, opinionated, and makes her boundaries known loud and clear. She came to us as part of a litter of unsocialized kittens—crammed into a Pampers box and left to survive on their own. While some of her siblings have softened with time, Wyatt still lives life on her terms. She doesn’t want to be picked up. She doesn’t want to be pet just because you want to pet her. If she wants attention, she’ll approach you—and if she doesn’t, you’d better respect her space. Wyatt is not mean. She’s not broken. She’s just Wyatt—a cat who requires patience, space, and someone who truly understands feline behavior. She will only be considered for adoption into a quiet, adult-only home, and only with a cat-savvy adopter who knows what it means to earn a cat’s trust slowly—over weeks or even months. One thing Wyatt does love? Other cats. She must go to a home where she’ll have a friendly feline companion. She feels safer and more confident when other cats are around, and it’s a critical part of her continued growth. Wyatt is not a fit for homes with kids or anyone who expects instant affection. She needs someone who will appreciate her from across the room for as long as she needs. And if one day she decides to sit next to you? That moment will mean more than all the lap cats in the world. Due to her specific needs, we are only accepting applications from RI residents. If you're the kind of person who finds joy in slow progress, in quiet companionship, and in earning trust on a cat’s timeline—not your own—Wyatt might just be the most rewarding cat you'll ever meet. But please: only apply if you're truly ready for the challenge and the commitment. Please be sure to read a cat's full bio before applying! We do our best to keep bios updated as we learn more about each cat or as circumstances change. The bio is the best place to find the most current and important information about their needs, personality, and ideal home. Thank you for your interest in adopting from Scruffy Paws Animal Rescue!
