You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application  HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age: approx. 6 months (as of 12/4/25) Weight: approx. 12 pounds (as of 12/8/25) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet the beautiful Belle, one half of the fantastic Flowerpot duo! Belle loves to play, loves squeaky toys, and gets short bursts of energy, followed by snuggles on the couch. Although there aren’t many outside visitors to the foster home, Belle is very sweet and gentle with her foster family and puppy playmates. She does well in the crate and the car. She's looking for a patient and loving fur-ever family that will be willing to brush up on the basics, like house training and leash training.  Belle is very social and likes to cuddle but is nervous being picked up or reached for.  She would do best in a home with a fenced yard where she can build trust before having to be handled.  She would also love another canine companion to show her the ropes.  Being just a puppy, Belle has so much to learn! We highly recommend obedience classes because it allows the opportunity to learn commands together, build confidence and social skills, and bond with your new family member. It’s lots of fun, too! A well-trained dog will be welcomed most anywhere you go, and puppyhood is the best place to start. Belle Flowerpot dreams of blossoming into the best pup she can be. Will you open your heart and home to her? Fill out an application today and puppy kisses may soon come your way! The Flowerpot story: This summer, four puppies were stranded in the middle of a rain storm in a cardboard box at a Camper Park. Luckily, residents put the word out and our friends were able to quickly recover Snoopy and Belle and get them some food, a visit to the vet and a nice place to sleep. We knew on that fateful rainy day, the storm would finally pass and make way for the beautiful rainbow that Belle brings! An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 10, 2025, 10:14 am

Story
Adoption Donation   $    99          Located:   Rhode Island   Age: approx   14   years old     Weight:  16 lbs Meet Jack. This sweet old man ended up in a local shelter after living most of his life tied outside in an alley. We were asked to help and of course, we said yes! Jack has settled into foster care and he seems grateful for the warmth, comfort, and kindness he is experiencing in his foster home. He is visually impaired and doesn't hear well, and clearly has some dental issues. He had a dental on December 3 with 29 teeth removed, and has received treatment for severe ear infections. Jack clearly does not have experience with being treated with kindness, and does not enjoy physical affection. He loves to sleep, eat, and relax, and would be happiest in a home with someone who didn't force affection on him. Jack is looking for a compassionate soul to give him a safe and loving retirement home.  If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  mkclark7@comcast.net Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Rescuer will provide information received from the veterinarian exam, observations on the temperament of the animal and a best guess of the breed. Friends of Homeless Animals Inc.
