Hello, I'm Mija. I am the most gentle old lady soul you will ever meet. I have been through a lot in my life, passed around several homes and abused. Despite all I've been through, I am gentle and affectionate and love people. I am a true testament to "age is just a number" because even though I am 18 years old, I have a great pep in my step, a decent amount of energy, and am in excellent health. I do have an old injury to my back and stiffness in my hind legs but I manage well with pain medication. I love food and snacks more than anything, except maybe a nap. I also love to take walks and I am 100% housebroken. I do just fine with other dogs of any size and don't mind cats either, though I'm not really a playful dog so I should probably be with other animals that are closer to my age and speed. I would very much like to find a calm and quiet home to retire to for my golden years. Is there room on your couch for me?

Remington, colloquially known as “Remi”. He’s about 14 or 15. Rat terrier mix. My mom had him for about 11 years. He was a rescue/surrender to the vet she worked for at the time. My husband and I unexpectedly took him in in 2023 when my mom suddenly passed away. He can be an anxious boy and we did have some resource guarding issues with him around the time my mom died but He had been through a lot! He’s much better now, loves adults and really just wants one on one companionship. The issue I am running into now is that we now have an 18 month old toddler with a newborn on the way. He is not overtly aggressive but has shown again some resource guarding with my now curious toddler. We have spoken with the vet who didn’t have great suggestions. This is incredibly difficult as he was my mom’s dog, and he is a sweetheart! But I am truly afraid for what may happen and trying to prevent a disaster before it occurs. Looking for a family that would be willing to also keep us a part!
