Hi, I’m Subaru, a 2yearold Rat Terrier weighing 13 pounds. Like the car brand, I’m always ready for an adventure, especially if it involves squirrel patrol, a toy or two, and quality time with my favorite people. Beneath my goofy personality is a sweet, affectionate guy who enjoys both activity and downtime. I may be small, but I make every day a little more entertaining.
Favorite Things: Subaru has two great loves in life: squirrels and toys. He takes squirrel patrol very seriously and is always ready to keep an eye on any furry visitors. When he’s indoors, you’ll often find him entertaining himself with a favorite toy.
Training and Manners: Subaru already has a solid foundation of good manners. He walks nicely on a leash, does well when taken out regularly, and can be left alone for several hours in a secure area without issue. He can be tempted to make a quick dash through an open door, so continued guidance in this area will be important.
Health and Care: Subaru is a healthy boy! He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. He will need monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives like any dog. His grooming needs are simple, regular baths and nail trims will help him feel his best..
Other Animals: Subaru has experience with small dogs and particularly enjoys companions who appreciate his playful style. He hasn't been tested with cats, but we suspect he may be more hesitant than bold during introductions. Slow, positive introductions would give him the best opportunity for success.
Children: Subaru would do best with children (6+) who respect his space while he settles in will help him feel safe and confident. He can be unsure in new situations and sometimes plays with an open mouth when he's excited, but he does not nip.
Ideal Home: Subaru would thrive with those who appreciate that he takes a little time to warm up to new people. Visitors, loud voices, and sudden movements can startle him at first, but patience and a few tasty treats go a long way toward earning his trust. He can adapt well to an apartment, townhome, condo, or house and would enjoy a predictable environment where he feels secure.
Overall: Subaru is a charming mix of affection, humor, and personality. He forms strong bonds with the people he loves and brings plenty of smiles along the way. Like the Subaru he shares his name with, he's dependable, versatile, and happiest when traveling through life with his favorite person.
