Found huddled together beneath a shed in the freezing cold of rural Alabama, these sweet little rat terrier–type puppies endured more in their first weeks than any baby ever should. Tragically, their siblings didn’t survive the cold; but these brave little souls held on. And today, they are warm, safe, thriving, and full of playful puppy joy. At around 9 weeks old, they are everything you’d hope for in a puppy! Curious, bouncy, snuggly, and impossibly adorable. They love to play, explore, and then curl up close for the sweetest naps. Because of their unknown past, there are a few mysteries that come with loving them: • We didn’t see mom or dad, so breed and adult size are only our best guess. • We don’t know their full health or genetic history. • We can’t predict shedding or exactly how big they’ll grow. • And like all young puppies, they are not housetrained yet and will need patience, structure, and lots of love as they learn. What we do know is this: They are incredibly loving. They are resilient. Lulu is an adorable black terrier mix, around 1–2 years old, with a very gentle, snuggly nature. She was rescued as a stray in Puerto Rico and lived happily with a person for about a year before coming into foster care due to unexpected medical issues in that home. She is a true lap dog who finds comfort in being close to people and loves quiet moments of being held or snuggled under a blanket. Lulu is doing well in her foster home with kids and other dogs. She is still working on potty training and adjusting to the routine, but she has prior experience with potty pads and going outside, and she is progressing steadily. Lulu and Lily are a bonded pair who have been through a lot together, so keeping them as a pair is essential for their sense of security and happiness. They provide each other with confidence, comfort, and companionship, playing and napping side by side every day. The girls would do best in a home where someone is around often to offer reassurance and affection. Lily is a small white terrier mix, about two years old, with a very friendly and affectionate personality. She loves being close to people—a true "Velcro dog"—and is happiest when she can snuggle up next to you or follow along with whatever is happening during the day. She is outgoing with dogs, kids, and humans, and enjoys both playtime and quiet cuddles. Lily was rescued from Puerto Rico and lived with a person for about a year before coming into foster care due to medical issues in that home. She is still adjusting to her new routine and working on potty training, but she has prior experience with both potty pads and going outside, and she is making good progress.
