Meet Koda – The Belly Rub Enthusiast If you're looking for a puppy who brings excitement, laughter, and endless affection wherever he goes, Koda may be your perfect match. This happy-go-lucky boy is full of personality and always ready for his next adventure. Whether he's chasing a toy, wrestling with dog friends, exploring the backyard, or rolling over for a belly rub, Koda approaches life with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. His foster's favorite fact about him? Koda absolutely LOVES belly rubs. In fact, he believes they should be a required part of every day. Koda Loves: -Belly rubs -Playing with other dogs -Playing with toys -Fetch -Tug toys -Exploring and sniffing new places -Chewing bones -Meeting new people -Cuddling Koda's Favorite Thing: Attention from his people. Koda loves being included in whatever is happening and is always excited to make new friends. He has never met a stranger and believes everyone should stop and say hello. A Fun-Loving Puppy: Koda is a confident, social puppy who is always ready for action. He is playful, curious, and eager to experience everything the world has to offer. Whether he's learning something new, investigating an interesting smell, or playing with his canine friends, Koda brings energy and excitement to every situation. Despite all of his puppy enthusiasm, he also has a sweet and cuddly side. After a busy day of adventures, he's more than happy to curl up next to his people and soak up affection. One of Koda's funniest quirks is that he enjoys watching TV with his family. He'll happily settle in for a show, but if a scene gets a little too intense—especially if there's fighting, arguing, or yelling—he feels the need to share his opinion and will bark at the television. Apparently, Koda prefers feel-good programming! Koda's early history is somewhat unclear, but it appears he entered rescue as a young puppy and spent time in foster care before making his way to Wisconsin. What is clear is that he has grown into a loving, social, and incredibly fun puppy who is ready to find a family of his own. If you're searching for a puppy who will keep you laughing, keep you active, and happily roll over for belly rubs at every opportunity, Koda may be exactly who you've been looking for. Story
Meet Laney – The Sweet Snuggle Bug Who'll Climb Mountains...or Baby Gates...to Be with You Some dogs love their people. Laney makes it her mission to stay close to them. This beautiful girl is the perfect combination of playful, affectionate, and gentle. She enjoys walks, exploring, playing with toys, and relaxing at home, but if you ask Laney what her favorite activity is, the answer is easy, snuggling with her favorite humans. Her foster says she'll happily climb over, or jump over, a 24-inch gate just to get back to the people she loves. That's just how devoted she is. Laney Loves: -Cuddling with her people -Walks -Hiking -Sniffing and exploring -Playing with toys -Napping -Spending time with her family Laney's Favorite Thing: Snuggling. Laney doesn't just enjoy affection—she actively seeks it out. If there's a barrier between her and her favorite person, she'll do her best to find a way around it. Whether that means climbing over a baby gate or curling up beside you on the couch, she'd much rather be with her people than anywhere else. A Sweet, Quiet Companion: Laney is a calm, observant girl who may be a little shy when meeting someone new, but she warms up quickly once she feels comfortable. Her foster describes her as a sweet, quiet dog who simply enjoys being close to her humans. She has a playful side but also knows how to relax, making her a wonderful balance of adventure buddy and cuddle companion. One of her cutest habits is collecting every chew bone she can find and carrying them back to her favorite resting spot on the couch. Apparently, every good treasure deserves its own collection. A Few Things to Know: -House trained -Crate trained -Knows "Down," "Stay," and "Come" -Loves other dogs -Coexists well with cats -Good with kids. -Medium energy level -Food motivated -Smart and eager to learn -No major behavioral concerns -May be shy initially but warms up quickly Great Activities for Laney: -Neighborhood walks -Hiking adventures -Park visits -Car rides -Running errands -Exploring new places -Cuddle sessions -Relaxing at home Best Match: -Calm households -Family-friendly homes -Active families who also enjoy relaxing -Someone looking for a loyal cuddle companion -Anyone who doesn't mind sharing the bed Three Words That Describe Laney Best: ❤️ Observant ❤️ Snuggly ❤️ Sweet Foster Location: Boyd, WI Meet & Greet Availability: Laney's foster is happy to meet approved adopters within approximately 45 minutes of their home, though they prefer meeting at their home. Story
Meet Daisy — a little girl finally getting the second chance she’s always deserved. At 9 years old, Daisy is discovering what it truly means to be loved. Before entering foster care in January, she spent much of her life living on a farm, often in a garage, without the comfort, stability, and companionship every dog should know. Since then, her foster family has watched her slowly blossom into a devoted and affectionate companion.Daisy has made incredible progress in foster care. She is now kennel-trained, leash-trained, and learning household routines beautifully. She does well with pottying outside when let out consistently and continues improving with patience and structure each day.Because of her past, Daisy is looking for a very specific forever home where she can feel safe and secure. After years of relying only on herself, she prefers to be the only pet and would do best in a home without children. Early in foster care, she could be reactive when uncomfortable, but once her pain was identified and properly managed with medication, her true personality began to shine. With trust, consistency, and feeling physically better, she has formed strong bonds with her foster dad and the adults she knows best. And the real Daisy? She’s a sweetheart. A quiet shadow who simply wants to be near her people, soaking up love and companionship. She would thrive in a calm, lower-activity home with a single person or couple willing to continue giving her the understanding and stability she has worked so hard to trust. Daisy will need ongoing pain management, but in return she’ll offer unwavering loyalty, gentle companionship, and a whole lot of love. She may not have always had the chance to be this dog — but now she does. Could you be the one to give Daisy the peaceful forever home she deserves?Daisy is spayed and up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations. To schedule a meet-and-greet, contact:• 507-451-4512 • steelecountyhumanesociety@gmail.com Adoption fee: $150

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Callahan came to the shelter on 4/7/2026 from the city pound when his stray hold was finished. He is pure energy in canine form. He is 12 to 18 months old and looks to be a pit bull type mix, maybe with a smaller breed like rat terrier or Jack Russell. He definitely has all the bells and whistles of a young, active dog. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped, and his fee is $150. Callahan needs someone who is ready, willing, and able to provide him with the training and exercise that he needs. He's a friendly guy but has obviously forgotten where his manners are, if he ever had them. However, the kid has potential (we're optimists). We think he'll be a lot of fun for someone. He really has a happy go lucky personality. Callahan would do best in a home without small kids. We're not yet sure how he would do with other dogs. Cats are most likely a no.  NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 26, 2026, 4:33 pm
