Story
Chelsea is a 13-year-old smooth coated Terrier weighing just 15 pounds of pure sweetness. This tiny senior lady may be small in size, but she has a huge personality and an even bigger heart. Described as “a cat trapped in a dog’s body,” Chelsea is sweet, spunky, and walks with the cutest little wobble, like a tipsy sailor with somewhere important to be.Her coordination isn’t perfect (years of kenneling and a tiny tail stub will do that), but she gains strength and confidence every day. She recently conquered a few backyard stairs and is ready for short strolls once the weather cooperates. Just a few turns in the yard is plenty of exercise for this golden girl.Chelsea is perfectly house-trained, not a single accident in her foster home! She doesn’t love crates, likely due to spending long periods kenneled before rescue, but she’s completely trustworthy and well-behaved when left out. She’s generally quiet, never barks, and happily naps while you’re away. Because her eyesight and hearing aren’t what they used to be, slow and supervised introductions to new dogs are best. Loud noises startle her, so she’d prefer a calm home without frequent barking.Health-wise, Chelsea is doing wonderfully for 13. She’s been spayed, sailed through mammary tumor removal surgery and a dental procedure, and now sports only a few (or no!) teeth, which just adds to her charm. She has typical senior arthritis and can’t manage more than two or three stairs, so she’ll need someone willing to carry her when necessary.Chelsea’s favorite place in the world? Your lap. She loves being held like a baby with her head resting on your shoulder. Whether you’re working, watching TV, or playing cards, she’ll happily snooze in your arms. Despite limited vision and hearing, her nose works perfectly, she’s never late for dinner and will absolutely supervise any cooking happening in the kitchen! She’s also a bit of a night owl and enjoys being active in the evenings.Though she had a tough start in life, Chelsea has always known companionship and thrives with it. She would love a home with humans (and ideally a cat friend) to snuggle with. Gentle, affectionate, and full of quiet spunk, Chelsea is ready to spend her golden years wrapped in love and comfort. If you’re looking for a tiny, devoted companion who will warm your lap and your heart, Chelsea is your girl.If you are interested in Chelsea, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450.
