Story
Pyro is looking for a special home who is willing to work with him to set boundaries. He is your typical terrier personality. He has been spoiled his whole life and not always in a good way. He IS trainable but also can be stubborn. He belongs to my mother in law who has asked to help rehome him due to her terminal cancer. At this point she can no longer care for him at all. He is also extremely overweight. We have had him on a diet for the last few months so he's made some progress there. He is dog aggresive so NO other dogs but does currently live with a cat and is ok with her. No small children. Older kids would be ok (he does like them!). Now the fun part, he does have a bite/nipping history. Since he was never properly trained, he can get aggressive when corrected. I do think this is workable for the right person who is willing to be consistant with training. He is highly food motivated. He is 100% house/crate trained and is also trained for an invisible fence.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Benita is from Texas.  She was picked up there as a stray and brought into rescue after her stray hold was up.  Benita is a sweet and cuddly little lady that just  wants  her own special spot on the couch next to you.  Benita is mostly potty trained, and is working hard at it every day with her Texan foster family.  She just needs some time outside to do her business roughly 30-45 minutes after eating.  Benita is kennel trained, taking all her meals there as  we'll  as any high value treats.   Benita is also leash trained, and loves to take rides in the car!  Benita has not been exposed to large dogs, cats or  children  while under our care, so they are still an unknown for her.  If you think that you have the perfect spot on the couch for this little sweetheart, please fill out an adoption application today.   They arrive in Minnesota on 05/04/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 5pm and 8pm. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.   Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you'd like to donate towards this pet's care, you can donate to our Animal Care Fund. Our Animal Care Fund supports the medical and veterinary needs for all Ruff Start Rescue animals. You'll be able to enter this pet's name on the second page of the donation form. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 28, 2024, 1:22 am

Story
Looking for a foster to adopt home. A secure fence is a requirement and experience with scared dogs. Charlie is from a hoarding case of over 30 small dogs. He is a cute little guy. He currently does not want to be touched yet by people but is flirty. He will take treats from you and comes close to you but isn't a fan of being handled yet. He loves playing with the other dogs in the home. He knows how to use the doggie door. He will require a fenced yard. You will not be able to leash him or pick him up for a while until you have worked with him. Charlie is a work in progress. If you are interested in working with this type of dog, Charlie has a lot of potential. He will need patients and training. We are looking for a foster to adopt home for Charlie. Someone who is willing to work with him. Apply at www.campcompanion.org to foster to adopt Charlie. Email Lori@campcompanion.org if you have questions about him. Adoption fee is $300 plus tax

Story
Harry and Eleanor?? Such SERIOUS names for a couple of goofy pups! We came from a somewhat sad and seriously MESSED up place but now we may be a little shy but we are definitely NOT SERIOUS :) We are JRT/Rat Terrier mixed siblings, each of us is cute and loving in our own right. Under 15# of absolute adorableness is who we are. We are both still a little nervous, I mean we came from a pretty horrific situation so know that we were not handled and loved on until the last month or so in our foster home... but we are learning so much and having a blast! We are great together but do not have to be adopted together. We will need at least another dog with us to show us the ropes and keep us company in our new family. We are good with everyone so that will be pretty easy :) Look one of us up and ADOPT...DON'T SHOP!!! SO MANY LIVES' DEPEND ON IT!! Local adoption fee is $350 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $600 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)
