Story
Update: Through no fault of his own, sadly, Hank was returned from a recent Slumber Party. They said he was well behaved and did nothing wrong. They just aren’t ready to adopt after losing their dog.Are you looking for a fun co-pilot for all your adventures? An active companion to join you on your daily walk? A smart buddy with a lot of personality and character? Look no further than Hank the Tank! He's a perfect medium size at just under 30 lbs., is past the puppy shenanigans stage at around 3 years old, and he's got a smiling face that is sure to win you over. Hank had the misfortune of losing his home through no fault of his own, and found himself at the shelter waiting to be noticed by his new forever family. He has a lot going for him; he's already house trained, walks nicely on a leash, and loves to curl up with you for nap time. He would prefer a home without young kids or small pets, but may be able to get along with other dogs (He prefers to decide on a case-by-case basis! We love a discerning short king!). He gets along with older kids/teens. If you've been waiting to find a dog with charm in abundance and a bright mind who can't wait to become your best friend forever, check Hank out!Hank “the Tank” arrived at NCCR on 5/10/26, rescued from abandonment when his owner moved out and left Hank and several other dogs shut inside their house alone. He is an approximately 3-year-old male, believed to have Rat Terrier and/or Jack Russell Terrier, Beagle, and probably another breed or two in his mix. *Approved applicants are welcome to participate in our popular Slumber Party program and take a dog home for up to 2 weeks to make sure he/she is a great fit. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an Adoption Application at www.caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again when you see another dog that interests you. If you have a question, please email us at adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day.We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopters must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in.*PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide. If they are incorrect, we will not be able to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone, so advise your references that there may be an unknown or private number calling them. Thank you!
