Story
Tiger Lily - 2 years & 10lbs, Rat Terrier, Spayed This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Level of dog ownership experience required:BEGINNER – “Beginner” doesn’t necessarily mean easy as all dogs will require time, work, and patience, but we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale because of their breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup.  Energy level:MEDIUM – Needs a daily 60 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Okay in the city?We don’t know yet because this pup is brand new to us. Most adult dogs do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Potty trained?Probably! Adults usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. A consistent walking route and schedule plus finding spots with grass or dirt can help. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some like to wrestle with every passing pup, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats? Not sure yet! Some breed mixes that are generally NOT great matches for homes with cats include large hounds, huskies, and shepherds.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age carefully.  Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses. This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2753099##

Incoming: Velcro Dog Alert! Small boy, BIG love, zero concept of personal space. (And honestly, what could be better?! ) • Dominic / 2 years old / 15 lbs / Rat Terrier mix / Crate + house trained • Professional cuddle enthusiast! When he climbs into your lap (which is often), it’s officially nap time. • Tiny self-appointed security guard who likes to “inspect” new people at first (all drama, zero danger ) • Takes his neighborhood watch duties VERY seriously, especially when people dare to walk past his house • Equal parts toy lover and couch potato who especially enjoys snuggles with his humans • On the quieter side at first with new people and pups, so he'll need some patience as he adjusts (and once he does, he will never leave your side again!) • Microchipped, vaccinated, and neutered. Adoption fee is $600. Located on Long Island. ##2720668##

Story
Best friend Buddy is the total package. He loves people and greets everyone, always eager for attention.   At 12, Buddy ended up in a rural Tennessee shelter. We do not know his backstory or why such a sweet boy would land in a shelter. We may never know.     At Critter Cavalry, we adore seniors and believe they deserve every chance to find a loving home. You won’t regret considering Buddy—he loves everyone, whether human or animal. Buddy is everyone’s best friend.     Buddy is healthy for a senior. He has limited sight and hearing, but is otherwise in good shape. He navigates his foster home easily and enjoys exploring the fenced yard. He comes when called—just use a louder voice.   Buddy is ready to retire with a couple eager to add him to their family. He’d love a fenced yard to explore—size isn’t important—and an active retirement with short walks and car rides. He will be a wonderful addition to a family that matches his lifestyle.   If you want a new best friend, Buddy is perfect for you. To learn more about adopting him, contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com or 615-943-7311. Approved application and adoption fee required.    June 7, 2026, 3:11 pm

Story
Notes from NYACC and her previous owner. Butta is described as independent yet social and affectionate dog who spends most of her time in the living room of her home. She loves bath time and water, has never been crated and knows stay", "sit", "don’t move", "come", "let’s go", and "ready to eat". She's accustomed to going on 1-2 walks a day for 15mins at a time and does not pull on her leash during. Her favorite snack is chicken, she primarily eats Purina Puppy Chow dry food, and she loves all dog toys. She is known to prefer contact on her own terms at first and likes to have a blanket or towel for comfort when she is feeling scared of new people or loud noises. When she arrived she was fearful and shy but has come out of her shell and loves people and walks and watching everything around her. She is a pretty, the perfect age and ready for a new life! Adoption fee is 425.00
