Story
Meet Captain Lee, a one-year-old terrier/chihuahua mix with a true captain’s resilience and a heart full of love. Like his namesake from Below Deck, he’s weathered a serious storm—after being hit by a car and suffering a broken femur and pelvis, he was brought into rescue for immediate surgical care. Thanks to that quick intervention and his own determined spirit, Captain Lee is now steadily on the road to recovery. Through it all, he’s remained incredibly social and snuggly. His foster describes him as a total lovebug who enjoys being close to his people and soaking up affection. He’s also shown friendly, calm interest in other dogs. While he’s not cleared for full playtime just yet, he’s been able to share space with other pups and coexist peacefully. Right now, Captain Lee’s main job is healing. He’s building strength with short, controlled leash walks and lots of rest. He’s not fully bearing weight on his left leg yet, but don’t tell him that—this little guy is already eager to get moving, especially if there are chickens in sight! Captain Lee will need an adopter who’s committed to continuing his recovery and giving him the time and support he needs to fully heal. In return, you’ll get a loyal, affectionate companion with a remarkable story and an even bigger heart. All aboard for a lifetime of love—Captain Lee is ready to be your first mate.

Story
Hello humans, The name is Mooshu (not the dragon) and I am only 10 years old (not hundreds of years old like my namesake). I am a legend in my own right with a bit of a sadder story. When I was a puppy, I was well-loved by my owner but was not given any boundaries or properly trained. I got to do what I wanted and when I wanted. My owner was a foster parent and had kids in and out of the home quite a lot, which overwhelmed me and now I am not comfortable with being in a house with several people. My ideal home would only have one human, preferably a female. Since I can be overwhelmed and uncomfortable with several humans sharing the same space as me, I would prefer to have a safe space I can go to while my future owner has company. Maybe my safe space can be in your room in a nice comfortable fancy crate. I would also prefer to have a home where I don't have to share with another animal. My first owner didn't socialize me with other dogs so I don't have the appropriate social skills to share a home with another animal. I can be a little picky of humans I can trust as my life started out pretty hectic and I really just preferred my owner and no one else. I am the kind of dog, where I would need some date nights with my potential adopter so I know they will be a good person to me. I believe that would make the CARA staff more comfortable knowing I've spent some time with my future owner before going home with them. While pondering what kind of person I would like to be my adopter, I think I would like to have a single female who is laid back and has a calm personality and doesn't mind spending evenings with me. One way to win me over is treating me with some delicious pieces of hot dogs! I know my owner will be one of a kind and can't wait to find them! Please apply for me on the website if you think you can meet my needs! To meet with me, please fill out an application on the CARA website! I will be waiting to schedule those date nights with you!

Story
Millie arrived at New Rattitude in rough shape, battling a severe case of pneumonia. Despite everything she went through, she proved herself to be incredibly resilient, and once she began to recover, her sweet, spirited personality started to shine through. She's estimated to be around 8 years-old (though she often acts younger) and at just 14 lbs. she's a perfect, easy-to-manage size. In her foster home, Millie gets along wonderfully with the other dogs and will even join in for a bit of play when the mood strikes. She's generally tolerant and easygoing, though she isn't shy about giving a little grumble if another dog pushes her boundaries. She loves going for walks and won't complain if she gets a ride halfway through to enjoy the view. She's both house-trained and crate-trained, though she's so trustworthy that she doesn't need to be crated at all. Millie adores attention and has a charming habit of appearing instantly whenever pets are being given, making sure she doesn't miss her turn. She isn't fond of cold weather, but she loves stretching out in the sunshine and spending time outdoors. Her energy level is moderate, and she happily chews on bones each day to keep herself busy. She also enjoys greeting people and dogs who pass by her yard, offering a few friendly barks as her way of saying hello. Millie has been diagnosed with chronic bronchitis, but with proper management she lives a very normal, happy life. She uses an inhaler twice a day to control her cough, which tends to be more noticeable in the morning. Excitement or overexertion can trigger her cough as well. The cost of her medication is about $100/month, though this may vary depending on location. Because her adopter will need to learn how to administer her breathing treatments, she must be adopted by someone who lives within a reasonable distance of Greensboro, NC. Millie is full of personality, affection, and a fun amount of spunk. She makes a wonderful companion and is ready for someone who will love her unconditionally and appreciate the joy she brings to every day.  To see more pictures of Millie follow this link  https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/millie    If you are interested in adopting this dog, PLEASE READ THE DETAILED ADOPTION PROCESS information on our website at www.
