I am spayed, chipped, have all my vaccines, but due to my previous owner not having me on monthly heartworm prevention, I am HW+. Now, don't let that scare you off away from me--I have had my treatment and am ready to take on the world! I came to this great rescue with my sister, Daisy (who is also on here for adoption) after our owner contacted the local Animal Control to help them, as there were a bunch of us dogs, and it was just too much for them to handle. We were at the shelter for several days, but everyone kept walking past our kennels. My foster Mom saw us and here we are! While in my previous home, we lived in an outside kennel, so this living inside is all new to me, but hey, it's a pretty good gig!! The leash is a new concept to me as well--when you live outside in a kennel, you don't get all this great training! I am a sweet friendly girl who is ready to spend my life with all the adventures we will have together! I am great with other dogs, but cats and children I can't say." Imagine driving down a rural country road on the way to pickup groceries, when out of the brush comes 2 walking Halloween skeletons. That is what Benjamin and his partner Olive looked like when we took them home. Benjamin is a sweet JRT mix that is about 2 years old and weighs 27 lbs. He loves to play and destuff all of his stuffed animals. When his energy runs out, he will snuggle next to you on the couch. He is a smart boy and will keep you on your toes. Benjamin is learning house manners and will stay in a crate. Benjamin walks well on a harness but beware of squirrels. Because of his high prey drive, absolutely no cats!!! A fenced yard is highly desirable but not a necessity. he can always go out on a leash but never off leash when not in fenced yard . If you love the energy and personality of a jack russell, then benjamin, we'll check all the boxes that you are looking for. Millie arrived at New Rattitude in rough shape, battling a severe case of pneumonia. Despite everything she went through, she proved herself to be incredibly resilient, and once she began to recover, her sweet, spirited personality started to shine through. She's estimated to be around 8 years-old (though she often acts younger) and at just 14 lbs. she's a perfect, easy-to-manage size. In her foster home, Millie gets along wonderfully with the other dogs and will even join in for a bit of play when the mood strikes. She's generally tolerant and easygoing, though she isn't shy about giving a little grumble if another dog pushes her boundaries. She loves going for walks and won't complain if she gets a ride halfway through to enjoy the view. She's both house-trained and crate-trained, though she's so trustworthy that she doesn't need to be crated at all. Millie adores attention and has a charming habit of appearing instantly whenever pets are being given, making sure she doesn't miss her turn. She isn't fond of cold weather, but she loves stretching out in the sunshine and spending time outdoors. Her energy level is moderate, and she happily chews on bones each day to keep herself busy. She also enjoys greeting people and dogs who pass by her yard, offering a few friendly barks as her way of saying hello. Millie has been diagnosed with chronic bronchitis, but with proper management she lives a very normal, happy life. She uses an inhaler twice a day to control her cough, which tends to be more noticeable in the morning. Excitement or overexertion can trigger her cough as well. The cost of her medication is about $100/month, though this may vary depending on location. Because her adopter will need to learn how to administer her breathing treatments, she must be adopted by someone who lives within a reasonable distance of Greensboro, NC. Millie is full of personality, affection, and a fun amount of spunk. She makes a wonderful companion and is ready for someone who will love her unconditionally and appreciate the joy she brings to every day.
