Louie’s legs are as long as his hopes for lap-dog life are high! Estimated to be around 8 months old, this leggy little black-and-white cutie boy appears to be a Rat Terrier/ Jack Russell mix but of course, with rescue dogs that is simply our best educated guess. His adorable spotted coat, impossibly expressive face, and ears that somehow manage to stand up in perfect little triangles while still flopping around when he runs make him look like he walked straight out of a children's storybook. ** Currently fostered in Port Angeles, WA ** This sweet, prancing prince is Rigger, a loving and energetic young fellow. Nice humans are a new thing for Rigger, so he's timid in new situations and with new friends. But he doesn’t take long to warm up and give the most tender kisses. His mind and body both run at about ten times the speed of everyone else's, so he's basically a turbo-charged love machine. He can sneak in ten licks before you even realize he's in your lap! He is quite motivated by food, which is a great training asset! So far, he knows "kennel" and "sit" and is enjoying learning more. Rigger is submissive with his foster mom and his two pittie foster brothers. But he is still full of sass! He loves to play with dogs more than twice his size, as long as they’re gentle and kind. He enjoys chasing, being chased, and ferociously thrashing stuffies and crinkle toys. And he loves a tasty bone to chew. He's quite athletic and graceful, trotting with high steps or leaping through the grass. This devoted pup follows his foster mom or his favorite foster brother around the house and yard. He is always happy and spunky, with oodles of love to give. We believe he’s a year-old rat terrier, though with rescues we’re never sure, of course. He weighs just over 20 lbs and is slowly gaining weight. Rigger has a journey ahead of him; he needs to discover the world and his own fortitude. He’s already come a long way in the short time he’s been in our care and we can't wait to see him build more confidence. Rigger's adopter will need to continue working with him on socialization. Ruger has the kind of personality that sneaks up on you. At first, he's happy to sit back, take everything in, and decide the world isn't quite as scary as it first seemed. Then, almost before you realize it, he's walking beside you on a neighborhood stroll, happily accepting treats, and leaning in for affection like you've known each other forever. He's proven to be a wonderful little housemate and has settled into home life beautifully. He's fully potty trained and has no trouble having his collar or leash put on before heading out for one of his favorite activities, a nice walk. Once outside, Ruger is in his element. He walks beautifully on leash and genuinely seems to enjoy exploring the world one sniff at a time. He's happy to accept treats along the way, making walks and continued training both enjoyable and rewarding. Although he may take a few moments to warm up to new people, Ruger doesn't stay reserved for long. Once he realizes you're a friend, his affectionate personality starts to shine. He has a gentle nature that makes spending time with him feel easy, whether you're out exploring together or simply relaxing at home. Ruger also had the opportunity to meet one of our calm, dog-friendly cat testers. He approached the introduction with curiosity, offered a few polite sniffs, and showed no signs of aggression. Based on that interaction, we think he could do well in a home with a mellow, cat-savvy feline after slow introductions. One area Ruger is still working on is feeling comfortable in a kennel. Right now, being confined isn't his favorite thing, and he'll let you know he'd rather be out with his people. With consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, we think he'll continue building confidence as he settles into a routine. ** Currently fostered in Port Angeles, WA ** This sweet, prancing prince is Rigger, a loving and energetic young fellow. Nice humans are a new thing for Rigger, so he's timid in new situations and with new friends. But he doesn’t take long to warm up and give the most tender kisses. His mind and body both run at about ten times the speed of everyone else's, so he's basically a turbo-charged love machine. He can sneak in ten licks before you even realize he's in your lap! He is quite motivated by food, which is a great training asset! So far, he knows "kennel" and "sit" and is enjoying learning more. Rigger is submissive with his foster mom and his two pittie foster brothers. But he is still full of sass! He loves to play with dogs more than twice his size, as long as they’re gentle and kind. He enjoys chasing, being chased, and ferociously thrashing stuffies and crinkle toys. And he loves a tasty bone to chew. He's quite athletic and graceful, trotting with high steps or leaping through the grass. This devoted pup follows his foster mom or his favorite foster brother around the house and yard. He is always happy and spunky, with oodles of love to give. We believe he’s a year-old rat terrier, though with rescues we’re never sure, of course. He weighs just over 20 lbs and is slowly gaining weight. Rigger has a journey ahead of him; he needs to discover the world and his own fortitude. Ruger has the kind of personality that sneaks up on you. At first, he's happy to sit back, take everything in, and decide the world isn't quite as scary as it first seemed. Then, almost before you realize it, he's walking beside you on a neighborhood stroll, happily accepting treats, and leaning in for affection like you've known each other forever. Estimated to have been born around July 13, 2023, Ruger is just over 3 years old, weighs approximately 9 lbs, and appears to be a Rat Terrier and Chihuahua mix, though as with all rescue dogs, his breed and age are simply our best educated guess. He's scheduled to be neutered on August 8th before heading off to his adoptive home! Ruger is currently fostered in a lively household with three young children—ages 6, 3, and 1—as well as several other dogs, giving him lots of opportunities to experience the hustle and bustle of everyday family life. He's proven to be a wonderful little housemate and has settled into home life beautifully. He's fully potty trained and has no trouble having his collar or leash put on before heading out for one of his favorite activities, a nice walk. Once outside, Ruger is in his element. He walks beautifully on leash and genuinely seems to enjoy exploring the world one sniff at a time. He's happy to accept treats along the way, making walks and continued training both enjoyable and rewarding. Although he may take a few moments to warm up to new people, Ruger doesn't stay reserved for long. Once he realizes you're a friend, his affectionate personality starts to shine. He has a gentle nature that makes spending time with him feel easy, whether you're out exploring together or simply relaxing at home. Ruger also had the opportunity to meet one of our calm, dog-friendly cat testers. He approached the introduction with curiosity, offered a few polite sniffs, and showed no signs of aggression. Based on that interaction, we think he could do well in a home with a mellow, cat-savvy feline after slow introductions. One area Ruger is still working on is feeling comfortable in a kennel. Right now, being confined isn't his favorite thing, and he'll let you know he'd rather be out with his people. With consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, we think he'll continue building confidence as he settles into a routine. Ruger would love a family that appreciates the quieter moments just as much as the adventurous ones. We believe Lilly may be a soft, fluffy little German Shepherd mix but as with any rescue, that’s always our best guess. What we know for sure is that she’s 34 pounds of pure sweetness wrapped up in one adorable, compact package. She has that shepherd sparkle and loyal heart, just in a smaller, easier to handle size. At 34 lbs, she’s sturdy enough for adventures but petite enough to manage with ease. She walks nicely overall and may just need a little leash polishing nothing her smart, eager to please self can’t handle. Lilly greets other dogs politely and appropriately. A true friend to all, she is comfortable with dogs of all shapes and sizes. She has a wonderful temperament that allows her to thrive. Lilly would do best with a medium to low energy dog who will give her space as she settles in. She is also perfectly happy to thrive as your one and only dog.
