Story
Meet the sweet little bug, Beetle! This 10 lb., 8-year-old rat terrier mix is looking for a home full of soft blankets and someone to snuggle with. You’ll fall in love with his crooked little smile and the way he wiggles into your armpit for cuddles. He greets his people with playful bows and cheerful tippy-taps, and his bright, enthusiastic personality comes with just the right amount of sass. Beetle adores people and happily trots up to everyone for hugs. At home, he follows his foster mom from room to room like a loyal, happy shadow. Everyone who meets him is instantly charmed. Beetle came to us from a California shelter, and we suspect he was an owner surrender -- he’s far too people-oriented to have been a long-term stray. In his past life, his jaw was broken and repaired with a plate. When he was rescued, the plate had failed, and he needed extensive surgery to remove it, along with screws and 21 teeth. He has recovered beautifully and is now healthy, energetic, and proud of his endearing snaggletooth and lopsided grin. Beetle gets along well with other dogs and cats. He’s affectionate, confident, and easy-going, and he enjoys walks without needing a lot of exercise. He’s crate trained (though he’d prefer your bed) and reliably pees outside. He usually poops outside too, though he sometimes mistakes rugs for potty pads—a habit that improves with prompt trips outdoors after meals. He’s missing part of one side of his jaw, but his vet says he should do perfectly well. Still, we recommend avoiding rough play with small children or rambunctious dogs. He’ll likely need soft food and ongoing dental care for his remaining teeth. Beetle can be mildly reactive on leash because he wants to meet everyone, and he shows a bit of separation anxiety, though it’s limited to brief crying. He also has a small inguinal hernia the vet says is not causing him pain.  See more photos of this special guy at  https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/beetle . Story
Welcome 4-year-old Bowser to CCPAL Rescue. Bowser is a Rat Terrier mix. We think he is mixed with Dachshund. He appears to be house trained because he doesn’t like to go in his kennel even though there is a wee pad. He is smart. He is adorable and weighs about 15 pounds. He is good on a leash and knows the sit command. He is lower on the shedding scale. He loves car rides and if he is off leash and you need him to come, you can open the car door and he will jump in. The only thing he isn’t great at is nail trims. He doesn’t like them, so we let the vet techs do that at his appointments or his groomer. He would be a great walking companion. He has lived in a home with small children and did great. We would like all the children to be 8 or older. He is very affectionate and liked it when Colin held him today. He can run very fast and he comes when you call. He is good with other dogs, even when bigger than himself. He isn’t over vocal and will bond deeply to his human. Many people love the Rat Terrier breed because of their loving nature. He is currently in Texas at the CCPAL Rescue. He is getting his vaccines topped up and will be ready for his new forever home as soon as we find his placement. We think a moderately active family would be best. He is loving and cuddly but will need a yard to play in or a walk daily to get his exercise in. He is a Rat Terrier so he will have fun checking the yard for rodents. He can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Porltand, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Pablo is a sweet, friendly, loving dog. He just wants to hang out with his people. Loves to cuddle. Because he’s in his teens now he doesn’t need long walks but does love to go outside. He misses his people when they’re gone and can bark when left alone. A real sweetheart.

Story
Hi, my name is Iron. I am a happy, playful, and very loving dog. I enjoy running, playing, and teasing my dog siblings just to make everyone laugh. I would love a home with a big yard and an active person who likes to walk, hike, or do any sport where I can come along. I do great with other dogs, and having siblings helps me stay entertained and joyful.I was found after being hit by a car, with a fractured tibia and femur. I was rescued, treated, and given a second chance. Now I walk and play like any other dog, and I am full of life. I know how to sit and come when called, and I try my best to be obedient because I love making my person happy.I am loyal, energetic, and ready to be your best friend. This dog is currently in foster care in La Paz, Mexico, but will be transported upon adoption or foster placement. Story
Hi, my name is Chimenea! If I had to describe myself, I would say I am funny, playful, and happy. I love going for walks, playing with stuffed toys, running, and even car rides. I dream of finding a home where I get lots of love, regular walks, and maybe even a friendly female dog as a companion. I do best in a home without small children, and I am ready to give all my love to the right family. I was rescued after wandering the streets for many days, and now I have been waiting 2 years for someone special. This dog is currently in foster care in La Paz, Mexico, but will be transported upon adoption or foster placement.
