Story
Meet Kylo – The Gentle Sidekick Kylo is the kind of puppy who wants to be part of the fun but may look to someone else to show him the way first. This sweet, playful boy has a gentle heart, a curious spirit, and a personality that continues to blossom more every day. While he may be a little unsure in new situations initially, it doesn't take him long to settle in and reveal the affectionate, happy puppy hiding underneath. His foster describes him as a follower rather than a leader, and that's one of the things that makes him so endearing. Kylo gains confidence from the people and dogs around him and thrives when he has someone he trusts to guide him. Kylo Loves: -Playing with other dogs -Playing with toys -Tug toys -Exploring new smells -Chewing bones -Meeting new people -Zoomies -Learning new things -Spending time with his family Kylo's Favorite Thing Having a buddy by his side. Whether it's a person or another dog, Kylo feels most comfortable when he has someone he trusts nearby. A Puppy Finding His Confidence: Kylo may be a little nervous at first, but he warms up quickly and wants attention from everyone once he feels comfortable. His foster reports that it only took a couple of days for him to come out of his shell and start showing his playful, confident side. Other dogs seem to help boost his confidence, and he enjoys their company. While he doesn't necessarily need another dog in his future home, he would likely enjoy having a friendly canine role model around. Kylo is doing great with housetraining with a structured routine and is crate trained. A Few Things to Know: -House trained when on a consistent routine. -Crate trained. -Loves other dogs -No major behavioral concerns noted -May be nervous initially in new situations -Gains confidence quickly -Food motivated and eager to learn Great Activities for Kylo: -Puppy playdates -Exploring new places -Tug-of-war -Training sessions -Family adventures -Backyard playtime -One-on-one bonding time Best Match: -Active individuals and families -Family-friendly homes -Homes with confident resident dogs -People looking for a loyal companion -Families willing to continue building his confidence Three Words That Describe Kylo Best: ❤️ Gentle ❤️ Loving ❤️ Playful Foster Location: La Crosse, WI The foster is willing to meet approved adopters within approximately 30–45 minutes of La Crosse, pending schedule availability. Since then, he has continued to grow into a sweet, social, and loving companion. Story
Hello, my name is Stu and I'm a male 1-year-old jack russell terrier. I am current on my vaccines, heartworm tested, neutered, and soon to be microchipped. 3 words that describe me: Shy, Friendly, Quiet Things staff and volunteers have to say about me: I came to CRHS on a transfer from Texas with my brother Lenny. Life in the shelter has been a little scary for us, but we're making progress every day! I would appreciate an owner that will go slow and take things at my pace. Once I get to know you I'll be a friend for life! Activity level/Energy Level: (1-10): 5/10 Housetraining Status: I have been good at keeping my kennel clean, however it may take me some time to adjust to the schedule in my new home. I should do well in a home: I am required to go to a home with children 5 years and older. I should do well with other dogs given proper introductions and time to adjust. Staff at CRHS are unsure how I'd do with cats. My favorite activities are: Hanging out with my brother Lenny and eating yummy snacks. Things I need work on are: Confidence building, basic commands, and walking on leash Any special needs: N/A Doggy day out notes: N/A Daycare Status: N/A My adoption fee is: $150 Training Requirement if applicable: N/A *If you are interested in adopting, please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

He behaved well when we took a walk around Myrick Park and the adjacent trails. He was excited by new smells and seeing new people. Lenny did well in the house, but was a little scared at first because it was a new environment. He adjusted after about half and hour and was excited to chill out. He also really enjoyed treats on his day out!" "Lenny did amazing. He’s such a sweet and fun dog. He did really well with only going potty outside. He was a little nervous being in a new environment but warmed up really quickly. He’s a perfect mix of calm and playful. I hope he’s adopted soon." "Lenny did very well. He does great on a leash. Very well behaved just a little nervous of new people and new surroundings. I hope he finds a great home! Sweet guy!" "He's an extremely kind and curious dog. He roamed around and sniffed everything possible both on our walks and in the yard. He hates flies as much as I do, too."
