Story
Maxwell is a happy, affectionate, fun-loving boy who is ready to find a family to call his own! This handsome guy is an absolute cuddle bug who loves hugs, pets, and being close to his people. He’s the kind of dog who insists that one hand petting him simply isn’t enough! Once he’s had his fill of attention, he’s happy to settle in beside you for a cozy nap. He has a sweet personality and a silly side that will keep you smiling.
Maxwell is also a smart boy who is eager to learn and please! He knows “sit,” is doing well with “stay” and “leave it,” and is working on other fun tricks. He’s house-trained, does well in his crate, and responds nicely to gentle reminders when he gets a little too excited. He’s still learning to feel comfortable on a leash, so his new family will need to continue working with him using patience and positive reinforcement.
When he’s not snuggling, Maxwell is ready to PLAY! He loves chasing balls, playing tug, tossing his toys around, and racing around the yard at full speed. He has plenty of energy and will do best with an active family that can give him regular exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation. A fenced yard would be a wonderful bonus (but no required)! Without enough activity, he can get a little mischievous, so he’s looking for a family ready to keep his clever mind and busy body occupied.
Maxwell has done well with other dogs, including his buddy Cole, and has also spent time around a senior dog. His enthusiasm and energetic play style can be a bit much for older or more laid-back dogs, so a compatible canine companion and proper introductions will be important. He has shown interest in chasing cats, so a home without cats may be the easiest fit, though careful introductions and management would be needed in any home with feline friends.
Maxwell has not been around young children, and because he can jump with quite a bit of enthusiasm, older kids who can handle an excited, bouncy dog may be the better match.
Maxwell is a wonderful combination of playful, affectionate, intelligent, and downright silly. He loves being part of the action, but he’s just as happy curled up beside his favorite person. With an active home, continued training, and lots of love, Maxwell has all the makings of an incredible lifelong companion!
