Story
Meet Miss Bonnie, a beautiful adoptable redbone hound in Denver, CO! This sweet southern gal is all that is good in a Redbone hound. Bonnie is sweet, affectionate, good natured, with a wagging tail and long soft ears. After a hard life with multiple litters, she was abandoned at a high kill shelter in Kansas by her sucky humans. Bonnie was never meant to be a mom. She wants to spend her time lounging on the couch or in the sun, and with the freedom to pursue her hobby of running and smelling everything. This girl’s ideal home would have a large yard or a piece of land. She is collar trained and has perfect recall using the her trained cues, and would love to be able to walk around with you, smelling everything while you work the land or explore the trails. She’s a great candidate for a GPS collar! Bonnie (also called Super BonBon) is getting better with leash training. She gets along great with other dogs and tolerates cats. She wants someone else to be in charge and set the her boundaries in a kind hearted way, so that she knows what to expect. Someone in the past was very heavy handed with her, so please be gentle and show her she’s safe now. With love, guidance, and a nurturing homelife, Bonnie clearly appreciates every kindness, and returns the love in multiple ways. Story
Do you SEE the way this girl looks at humans? Elly wants to be loved. That’s literally ALL she wants. Elly P. is an adoptable hound beagle mix, and she is looking for her perfect person. We say that Elly is like a winter squash – she’s tender and sweet on the inside, a little bumpy on the outside. Her deep brown eyes and head tilt will capture any human’s gaze. She communicates on a level rarely seen in the canine species. She understands many English words and will respond vocally to you. (It’s really quite hilarious. She LOVES to talk.) Elly has been at headquarters for a couple weeks, and here’s what she wants in her forever life: “I’m Elly. I would like a place that’s safe and quiet, with clear expectations. I try to be flexible, but when things aren’t clear, I get a little stressed. In my new home, I would be ok with a doggie friend, but not too many of them. If there are soft blankets to cuddle on, and a schedule for going outside, eating, and playing, that will help me a lot! Please pet me all day long, and look me in the eyes and talk to me. I have a lot of thoughts about things, and it would just make my day to have a chance to discuss my deep thoughts with you.” This girl would love to be someone’s baby. She likes to wear shirts, jackets, Thunder jackets, and be wrapped in a blanket. Sitting on the couch next to you is one of her favorite activities. She’ll never complain about what you choose to watch on TV. Chicken and beef are two of her favorite foods. She loves a nice home-cooked meal a couple of times per week and has grown to love vegetables. When home-cooked food isn’t available she enjoys a good pate wet food mixed with her kibble. And while it’s not polite to talk about a lady’s weight Elly P. could lose a couple pounds. She is sensitive to pain, please don’t pull on her collar, or yell at her. It would break her spirit and make her cry. Elly P. really wants to be a good girl, so giving her small projects to build her confidence will be a great way to help her see her own best qualities. Understanding and communication will be the strongest way to support her success. She will always alert you to her needs; whether it be a snack from the kitchen, or to be taken outside she’s going to tell you all about it. She is funny and charismatic. When going outside she is eager to walk. She loves a good sniff session, and walks better when wearing a Gentle Leader. Ready to meet Elly P.?
