If you ask me about Buster, be prepared to listen for a while, because I could talk about how incredible this boy is FOREVER. ❤️ He is handsome, goofy, affectionate, smart, and full of personality. He loves tug-of-war, cuddles, adventures, and being close to his people. He’s the kind of dog who makes you fall in love with him a little more every time you spend time together!
🧠 BUSTER ABSOLUTELY THRIVES WITH TRAINING!
What makes Buster truly special is his brilliant mind and desire to work. He is incredibly handler-focused, driven, and eager to learn. Give this boy a job, and watch him shine! Whether it’s obedience, scent work, agility, trick training, or another fun activity, Buster loves having a purpose and working alongside his person. He has so much potential, and building a bond through training is one of the best ways to see his amazing personality come to life. He knows come, sit, place (he’ll go to his bed and wait), and stay (somewhat he struggles with that one the most). He’s completely 110% crate trained his command is “go to bed”. “Yes” is his off command when he’s done with one and ready to move on to the next. He really is so great and so insanely smart he just needs to be in a low stress environment with someone who can work him consistently.
🐕 WHAT ABOUT OTHER DOGS?
Buster has been working hard, and his progress has been so encouraging! He can now be in close proximity to other dogs much more comfortably, including during tandem walks. He generally does best with smaller dogs and puppies. Larger dogs can sometimes make him nervous, particularly during off-leash play if they get right in his face.
With thoughtful introductions, continued positive training, and a family who understands canine body language, Buster can continue building confidence and enjoying positive experiences with other dogs. His progress so far is something to celebrate! 💙
🐱 WHAT ABOUT CATS?
Buster has done wonderfully with cats in the barn and absolutely LOVED them! While he hasn't been tested off-leash with cats, his experiences so far have been very positive. He does have a high prey drive toward wildlife, especially birds and squirrels, so his future family should be mindful of this when outdoors.
👧 AND THE KIDS? OH, THE KIDS!
Buster LOVES children and has done amazing with them in the past, especially little ones! Honestly, I have never seen him be as calm and careful as he is around toddlers. 🥹💕 Seeing that gentle side of him is so special, and it's one of the many reasons this boy has completely stolen my heart.
🏡 BUSTER'S DREAM HOME
Buster's dream home is one with someone who loves a dog with brains, heart, and a whole lot of personality! He is looking for a somewhat experienced, committed adopter who will embrace his intelligence, provide plenty of enrichment, and give him opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
Buster is housetrained and would love to be included in his family's daily life. He needs more than just a few walks around the block; he needs someone who will put his brilliant mind to work and give him a job, whether that's structured training, canine sports, scent games, or other activities that challenge him.
He is an energetic, enthusiastic young dog with SO much to offer the right person. With the right outlets for his energy and intelligence, he can be an incredibly rewarding companion who gives his whole heart to his person. 💙
💔 WHY BUSTER NEEDS A HOME NOW
Shelter life has been hard on this sweet boy. His stress has increased again, and his digestive issues have flared up, causing him to lose weight. He desperately needs the comfort, stability, and individualized attention that a home can provide.
Buster deserves the chance to decompress, feel safe, and finally have a place where he can settle in and show everyone just how wonderful he is. He has worked so hard, made progress, and has so much potential waiting to be nurtured. We want to see him flourish outside the shelter!
