Story
Slinky is one of 11 hound mixes that rescuers in rural SW Oklahoma saved from a property where they barely had any shelter and fed inconsistently. Several rescues stepped in to take the dogs. I took 3. They are about 9 months old. And despite their horrible start in life all 3 of them have wonderful personalities and are super sweet. They are big, calm and great with other dogs and cats, including kittens. Shy at first but always friendly. They are not high energy and they do not bark or howl like you would expect from a hound. If you want a chill dog that is big, Slinky is your match. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tacoma, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) - Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Adoption fee: $500 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Story
Name: Duke Breed: Redbone hound mix Approximate Age: 6 years old Sex: Male Dogs: Yes Cats: No Kids: Yes 6 years old, Redbone hound mix, he is good with other dogs, no kids under 13 (he was teased by a young kids to the point he does not like them) no cats. He is leash trained, he does guard his food so needs to be fed separate in his own space. Food guarding is something that most times improves over time once a pup is out of the shelter environment and with a committed family willing to train. -Attention: all puppies will need a family committed to basic obedience training. This includes but is not limited to: House, leash, behavioral & crate training. If there is a cat in the home, it is the adopters responsibility to get them acclimated to one another. We suggest contacting a trainer as soon as possible. All dogs are fixed and up to date on shots for adoption. Link to apply: http://www.kcpetrescue.org/adoption-services.html
