Story
Gertrude came to the shelter as a stray so we don't really have much background information on her. We have found that during here stay here at the shelter she is a very sweet girl. She loves to go on walks and likes to play with her toys. She is dog social and loves to play with the younger dogs. She does not realize her size. A meet and greet with the other dog will be part of the requirment for her to go home with another dog. Her obedience training is going well, and basic manners always need to be worked on. She will require that she goes to a home with a fenced yard. We feel that she is roughly about 1.5 old and weighs in at 53lbs. Gerty has spent sometime in a foster home and the reports have came back that she is a pretty busy girl. If she is left to her own devices she will keep her self busy and that always isn't always in a good way. We would highly suggest that she go to a home with another dog. She is going to need a job and someone who is going to keep her mind busy. If you are interested in meeting her we ask that you please email adoption@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an adoption application. Her adoption fee is $250.00 that includes her being spayed and current on all her vaccinations. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgApril 26, 2024, 8:34 am

Story
This delightful little girl is looking to find that forever family she has always dreamed of. Dixie came to the shelter as an owner surrender because she was barking too much. From what we have seen at the shelter if her needs are not being met or she is scared of something she will just let you know. She is your typical little girl hound, she doesn't stop moving but she loves to play with other dogs. She has a very sweet playstyle and will do well in a home with a male companion that is playful, and willing to show her the ropes of what real life is like.Dixie is a little shy when she meets new people but give her about 10-15 minutes and she will be your best friend in no time. Her small size makes her a great dog for that family that is looking for a medium size dog. She is only about 32lbs. From what we can gather she is about 9 months old and has already found her way through 4 homes. Let's make this Dixie's last stop where she can find a forever home that is going to be committed to this little girl for her life. She already walks great on a leash. She likes to play a little fetch, but is also happy just running around sniffing like hounds do. We don't know what she is going to be like with cats, but if she is true to her breed she will more than likely want to chase. This little girl isn't going to be a couch potato, she is going to need daily exercise both mentally and physically. If you are interested in meeting Dixie we ask that you please email adoption@columbiahumane.org in order to obtain an adoption application. Once you have an application on file we will then schedule a time for you to come and meet her. Please note that Dixie is not going to be a good dog for an apartment. Her adoption fee is $250.00 this will include her being current on all her vaccinations, being treated for fleas, treated for worms, microchipped and spayed. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email adoption@columbiahumane.orgApril 26, 2024, 8:34 am
