Story
Cash is a 2-year old male dog that was surrendered by his loving family due to an unfortunate change in their ability to continue to care for and nurture their beloved dog. Cash is about 75 pounds. He is mellow and enjoys walks and playing with other dogs. He is used to big children; and due to his size and energy; I would not recommend them to a home with small or fragile people. It is unknown how they might be with cats. He gets along fine with our 18 lb dog & other dogs. I would prefer he is adopted by someone with experience with large dogs.

Story
🐾 Everyone Loves REBA! And You Will Too! 🐾 Hi there! I’m Reba — a sweet, affectionate, playful Rhodesian Ridgeback mix with beauty *and* manners. At 3 years young and 66 lbs., I’m a perfect blend of unconditional love, quiet dignity and pure devotion. 🐶 Psssst…word around the shelter is that I’m everyone’s favorite girl… and I’d love to be yours too, if you’ll only let me. 😘 When we first meet, I might play it cool, casually strolling off to seek comfort from one of my familiar, trusted volunteer friends. But spend some quality time with me, toss in some tasty treats and a bit of baby-talk, and voilà — you'll unlock my inner Hallmark movie star in no time. 🎬 I LOVE to give and receive affection, cuddling with my favorite hoomans and kissing them to my heart’s content. My volunteer buddies joke that I turn into their personal weighted blanket, leaning against their legs and giving them puppy eyes to score some belly rubs and back scratches. 🥰😘😍 Some of my favorite things to do include playing in the yard, entertaining myself with squeaky toys, tossing them into the air, and bounding after them with all the energy I’ve got! 🧸 I also enjoy running along the fence and playing with my doggo friends in the neighboring yards. If you have a doggo at home, please do bring them along for an on-leash, supervised meet-and-greet — who knows, we just might be future besties! 🐶🐶 I’m a smart cookie too! I know how to “Sit” and go “Down” when you ask me to (or when I catch a whiff of a treat coming my way 😂), and I walk nicely right by your side on a leash. I’m very treat-motivated and would love to learn new tricks, taking every treat gently right from your hand. I can be a little shy and am still learning to handle new situations confidently. So, I’d prefer a calm, patient home without small children — a place where I can feel safe, build trust, and slowly let my affectionate, playful self shine. In return, I'll offer you my sweet, steady companionship — whether we're cuddled up for a Netflix binge or off on a little adventure. 🐾 🏡 ** Reba would do best in a home without children ** ## See video of Reba at the end of the photo gallery! ## TVAR.org/find-your-pet-adopt/dogs-puppies/ Reba’s Shelter ID# is 87358. She is an approximately 3-year-old, red, Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. She currently weighs around 66 lbs. She has been vaccinated, spayed and microchipped and is ready to go to her new home! Reba is located in kennel B-1. Her adoption fee is $35, plus licensing (if applicable). The cost of her spay surgery will be sponsored! ** Age shown is an estimate only ** THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING If you are interested, please call the East County Animal Shelter at 925-803-7040 to see if this dog is still available.

Story
Meet Bluebelle the Catahoula! Bluebelle has history living with children under 12 years, teenagers, men and women. Bluebelle’s favorite activities in her previous home include running, walks and playing with other dogs. She also enjoys squeaky toys and balls. Bluebelle, like many other dogs, is afraid of fireworks. She finds car rides a little naseauting (literally, sometimes she throws up) so adopters should be mindful of how closely she eats before a car ride and/or work with their veterinarian to help provide Bluebelle with some support to make car rides more comfortable. Bluebelle knows “sit” and “shake”. She has lived with chickens previously and would chase and pin them down if she had access to them. If there are chickens in her next home, they should be securely kept separate from Bluebelle for everyone’s safety. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Meet Rose, the mixed breed (we are guessing vizsla, maybe boxer?). Rose arrived at the Shelter at the end of September and has taken some time to blossom. She has gone out to sleepovers with a volunteer who reports: “Rose was such a fun houseguest this weekend. She loved riding in the car, enjoying both sticking her nose out the window and sleeping in the passenger`s lap. She had a blast exploring every corner of the house, but also settled beautifully. Give that girl a blanket and she`ll tuck herself in for you! She was easy to have around—I could even eat food while she slept in my lap. Her favorite thing in the world was playing with her toys. She carried her stuffy around the house everywhere—it reminded me a lot of Linus and his blanket!”Rose may thrive in a dog savvy home that will give her time to decompress and acclimate. A home with another dog may be a fit after a slow, thoughtful introduction as well as management. Rose`s adoption fee is sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation thanks to “Leave No One Behind fund” – designed to adopter’s eyes towards animals who have been in the Shelter’s care a little longer than average waiting for the right adopter. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. Story
MEET ROMEO, a handsome, loyal, protective Black Mouth Cur. Romeo is a handsome 6-year-old male, and he weighs about 74 lbs. (His shelter paperwork says shepherd-boxer mix). Romeo is a gorgeous, handsome dog who loves to walk, hike and be with his person or people. He would be a wonderful companion for someone who loves to hike! He's a great guard dog and can be protective with people he does not know, so would do best in a non-congested area where neighbors aren't a concern. Romeo also has a prey drive, so needs a strong owner. He has done great with other dogs in a home setting. He's incredibly smart, affectionate, and will attach to his person or people. His bond is very strong. He is not a big fan of kids. Romeo is easy to groom, is playful, and loves a good belly rub! He will benefit from walks, hikes, and exercise, and people who understand his breed. Please email for an application.
