Pryncess may have a name fit for a throne, but she’s actually a very modest and quiet girl. She is a shy-but-sweet soul who prefers to observe from the sidelines until she knows she’s safe. Once she trusts you, however, she reveals her true colors—a devoted, tender-hearted companion who will follow you with quiet loyalty. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2674221##

I have had so many chances in my young life. Seriously...I was found with four siblings at about 2.5 weeks old, dumped in a box at the post office... we were so, so sick and close to death. My rescue mom really worked hard to get us healthy and LIVE. And we did! About 6 weeks later, we all got parvo..... and my rescuer was able to nurse all of us out of it! All my siblings have been adopted, and I am ready too! I am somewhat shy and will take time to settle into my new family. But I will adjust. I am best with another dog, calm and confident, because I will mirror that energy. As a gorgeous catahoula/whippet mix, I have plenty of energy and I love to play! Fetch and chase games are my favorite . I am adoptable in Texas, I need to meet my family and you need to meet me! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

If you’re looking for sweet instead of rowdy, Frances is your girl. She’s the total opposite of wild and chaotic — calm, loving, and full of gentle affection. OK, she has her fun and cray cray times when she sees you!! :) Frances has truly never met a stranger and believes everyone she meets is (or should be!) her new best friend. Her favorite way to say hello? Jumping up for the sweetest hugs. 💗 She walks beautifully on a leash and is crate trained, making her an easy and well-mannered companion. Frances has been through a lot over the past six months, and she’s finally ready to start the next chapter of her life with a family of her own. Frances would love a yard to explore and kids or a dog friend to play with, but she’s just as happy being the only dog and soaking up all the love and attention for herself.
