Name: Finleigh Age:  1 year Weight:  47 lb Gender:  Male Breed:  Rhodesian Ridgeback / Terrier mix Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly:  Yes Child friendly: Yes House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes, but not needed Temperament:  Easy going, loving, smart Energy Level: Moderate  Requirement: Not suited for apartment living, but would thrive in a town home or condo Adoption Fee: $400+tax To adopt, go to:   www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html From his foster family: Finleigh is a 47-pound bundle of charm and playfulness. At just one year old, he’s already growing into a confident young dog, full of energy and personality. He has a warm, rich brown coat that’s soft to the touch and gleams in the sunlight. Whether he’s exploring the yard or searching the toy box, Finleigh’s playful spirit truly shines through. Despite his size, Finleigh has the heart of a puppy. He’s incredibly affectionate and thrives on human interaction, always seeking to be near his favorite people. There is a touch of independence to his personality, and while he loves his snuggles, he’s not shy about letting you know when he wants to do things his way. He’s quick-witted and learns new tricks with ease, though his attention span can sometimes waver when something more exciting catches his eye. He’s devoted, always keeping an eye out for his pack. Finleigh has a steady kind of charm that’s hard to beat. Though still a young dog with plenty to learn, his loyalty, playful nature, and sense of adventure make him a loving and entertaining companion. From Finleigh: I’m Finleigh, and I’ve got this strong, sturdy frame, but don’t let that fool you—I’m all about loyalty, comfort, and taking life at my own pace. I prefer to stick by my people, watch what’s going on, and take it all in. I love being close to my humans, whether it’s lounging on the couch, getting belly rubs, or going on walks where we just hang out together. I’m also all in when it comes to playing with other dogs. It’s all about the little moments for me—like that perfect spot on the rug or when someone scratches behind my ears. I’ve got a big heart, and I’ll always have your back. May 28, 2025, 8:42 pm

Story
Hi, my name is Red Foreman, but my friends just call me Red, and I am told I am a very sweet boy. They think I am about 3.5 years old, 75 lbs, and a Rhodesian Ridgeback. I came up from Arkansas where I had been living in a shelter a VERY long time- like years long…and I mean people years. But then NDLB got a whiff of me and brought me here to MN to start living life in a home, and I gotta say I am loving it. Shelter life just wasn’t for me- I was a little too shy to get noticed, but in a home setting, I am beginning to shine. Unlike my That ‘70s Show namesake, I am NOT grumpy, impatient, or hard to please. A little love, a bowl of food, and a good belly rub are about all I need to make me happy. I am also shy and a little skittish around new people, but I warm up fairly quickly for some pets. I have been very gentle with my foster mom and her friends. I did meet one man that I wasn’t so fond of and barked at him and backed away. I haven’t met any children yet, but they are probably fine. I have been good with my foster dog brothers, although I haven’t tried to interact much or initiate play. I did try that with my mom the other day, so she has hope I will eventually feel comfortable enough to try to play with my brothers as well. I even met some cat,s and they seemed fine too! My favorite spot is on the couch with you, but I am also a fan of my kennel, it makes me feel safe and I will go right in if you ask and stay quiet and content. After about 4 hours in there during the day while my mom works I sometimes bark and whine to get her attention to let me out, but I am fine in there overnight or when you are gone, I just don’t love not being in the same room as you. My mom has started letting me out some while she works and I usually just lay in her office in case she needs a few pets between her calls. I did have a few accidents in the house when I first arrived, but I think I have now figured out that I should do that outside. I am a dream on walks, no pulling or barking, I just stay right by your side! The one car ride I had made me a bit nervous, but overall seemed fine. Anyways, I would love to meet you and get to know you a bit better too! Hope to see you soon.   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
