Story
RJ is here through no fault of his own. RJ is 3.5 years old, neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. He is 54 pounds and unfortunately heartworm positive. RJ came in with Birdie so we know he likes female dogs so far. This guy looks so sad in the shelter but we have had multiple volunteers tell us how sweet he is. One volunteer last week said: "RJ is a a total sweetheart! This sweet boy is very nervous being at the shelter and won’t be the dog who greets you at his kennel. You’ll find him tucked in the corner, curled in a ball trying to disappear. However, if you sit with him and give him all the pets, he’ll warm up to you and show you those sweet puppy dog eyes. He is very affectionate and might even try to sit on your lap! He’s a little unsure of the outside world at the moment, but with a little encouragement he’ll walk right along side you. He walks great on a leash and will stick right by your side, but load noises and fast movement make him a little skittish. I have no doubt that with a little time and lots of love, RJ will be the best companion to a lucky person/family!" RJ is $60 to adopt. We are open Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. 1710 S Main St, Stillwater OK. Go to the glass door that says Animal Welfare!

Meet Pippin! Equal parts chaos and cuddle, he is around 6 months old and is likely a Black Mouth Cur mix. Rescued from a busy street after being hit by a car, Pippin is fully recovered from hip surgery and is ready to find his forever home. Although he may carry his John Wayne swagger into adulthood, his injured leg no longer slows him down at all! Estimated to be at least 60 pounds in adulthood, this playful pup has the big personality to match his future size. Pippin is looking for a home that will appreciate his youthful exuberance and have the know-how and patience to train him to be the wonderful companion he was born to be. He is a smart boy and quick learner. He had done well with other dogs and would do great in a home with another dog who enjoys playing. He hasn't lived with children but would likely do well in a home with children old enough to know how to respect their dog friends and who may not easily knocked over. Pippin is doing well with house training and is fully crate-trained, willingly obeying his "kennel up" command even after several weeks of post- surgical "crate arrest" while his leg healed. Pippin also eats and sleeps in his crate all night. If you are looking for a playful, cuddly friend Pippin may be just the doggo for you!
