Story
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. With one striking blue eye and one warm brown eye, Osa is as unique on the outside as she is in personality. She likely carries some Australian Shepherd or Husky traits along with her reported Rhodesian Ridgeback background—whatever her mix, she is 100% sweetheart. Osa is the sister of Ollie and Bennie, who were both adopted through Forget Me Not earlier this summer. While her previous owner kept her at the time, circumstances took a difficult turn, and Osa was recently brought to us by the sheriff after being found abandoned in an empty apartment. Now, this resilient girl is more than ready to start fresh with a loving family that will truly be hers forever. Born around 1/1/25, Osa is a happy, expressive dog who seems to always be smiling. She weighs just under 60 pounds, gets along well with other dogs, and was polite when meeting our dog-savvy test cat—so with proper, patient introductions, she may do well with a confident feline friend. Osa is housetrained, though she occasionally exhibits submissive urination during greetings or moments of uncertainty. A calm, supportive home with positive interactions will help her build confidence and grow past this behavior. Right now, human connection is Osa’s top priority. After her experience with abandonment, she gravitates toward people and wants to stay close to them, choosing affection over toys every time. We’re confident she’ll learn to enjoy play in time—she simply needs the security of a loving presence first. She’s already quite good on leash and is starting to understand “sit.” She does sometimes jump up for attention, so she’ll be a better fit for homes with older children who won’t be toppled like Weebles by her enthusiastic affection. Osa is a loving, sensitive girl who has weathered hardship and still greets the world with a smile. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who just wants to bond deeply with her person, Osa may be the perfect addition to your family. All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Osa is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

Story
Blue is a gentle, sweet dog who is looking for a patient and understanding forever home. He may have experienced abuse earlier in life and can be shy, especially in new environments. For the last four months, he has lived outdoors in a barn alongside goats and chickens and is familiar with both children and cats on the property. Blue is hesitant when entering buildings, but once he realizes he is safe, he relaxes and becomes affectionate. During intake, he showed how much he enjoys gentle neck and ear rubs—so much so that he drifted off to sleep. While Blue does not enjoy shots and was understandably aloof with the medical team afterward, he remains a kind and loving dog at heart. He will do best in a home that can provide him with patience, consistency, and a purpose or “job.” Blue is currently overweight and will need regular exercise and a healthy routine to help him slim down safely. With time, love, and structure, Blue will be a devoted companion.   I eat 1.5 cup(s) of Diamond Naturals Beef food a day. ##2593686##
