Story
Meet Rigatoni! This young Rottweiler/Bernese Mountain Dog mix can't wait to join a busy, active, and loving forever family. Rigatoni is a friendly, affectionate pup who will thrive in a home that can keep his brain and body active. He has a good grasp on his basic commands, but still needs to work on his leash manners and obedience. Don't fret, Rigatoni is eager to please and loves a treat, so training is one of his favorite things to do! Rigatoni loves to be close to his people, and would be a fantastic movie-night snuggle buddy after a long day of learning. He also enjoys chasing around his squeaky toys and going for walks, just so long as it isn't raining! Rigatoni will thrive in a home with a consistent routine who can provide him with plenty of exercise. He gets along well with other dogs and older children, but we aren't sure how he feels about cats or babies.Want to learn more about Rigatoni? Come visit the Vancouver SPCA today! Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. You can also submit an application online if I am in foster or you would like to save some time when you come visit. Story
Meet Hank Hank is a 1-year-old Rottweiler mix with a big heart and lots of potential. Rottweilers are known for their loyalty, intelligence, and strong bond with their people and Hank is already showing those qualities. While we don't know all the details of his past, we do know that Hank is looking for a home that prioritizes structure, understanding, and calm leadership. Hank can be cautious in new situations, but once he feels safe, he becomes a deeply loyal and affectionate companion. He's the kind of dog who will give his whole heart to the right person. With patience and reassurance, Hank will continue to grow in confidence and show his loving personality. Training & Support Hank will benefit from positive, reward-based training methods that focus on building trust and reducing fear. He's still learning and will need consistent guidance to help him feel secure. We recommend working with a trainer who uses force-free, low-stress techniques to support Hank as he continues to develop into a happy, well-adjusted dog. Because Hank has shown some food-related guarding, his new family should be prepared to manage this with structure and training. With the right approach, Hank will thrive and become an amazing companion. Ideal Home Hank would do best in a quieter, stable environment where he can feel safe and supported. He should be the only dog in the home due to food-related guarding and is best suited for families with older children (16+) who can respect his space. Cat compatibility is still to be determined. The perfect home for Hank will give him the time, patience, and reassurance he needs to build confidence. In return, Hank will offer a deep, meaningful bond and unwavering loyalty. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ready to Apply? If you would like to meet Hank, please download an application from our website at: vancouver.ca/adoption-form Then, email your complete application to: animal.shelter@vancouver.ca If your application is approved, we will contact you to arrange a meet and greet. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- All adult dogs at Animal Services have veterinary health checks, and are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (if necessary) before going to their new homes. Story
Meet Heidi Heidi is a beautiful young 65 pound female Rottweiler, approximately 10 months old. She's still very much a puppy at heart, just in an almost full-grown body. Like many young dogs, new situations can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but once Heidi knows she's safe, her true personality shines through. The shelter environment was understandably scary for her in the beginning, but after a few days of reassurance and routine, Heidi completely turned a corner. She has shown herself to be a sweet, fun, and affectionate dog who is ready to bond deeply with her people. Training & Support Heidi would benefit from a home that's excited to continue her puppy education. She's at the perfect age to learn and grow, and she's already showing great potential. She'll need to work on: -Basic manners and confidence-building -House breaking (possibly) With consistency, patience, and positive reinforcement, Heidi is going to blossom into a wonderful adult dog. Ideal Home Heidi is looking for a home that understands she's still young and learning about the world. A family willing to guide her through new experiences will be rewarded with a loyal and loving companion. A home with another friendly dog could be a great match for her, or an adopter that understands she may need support learning to be alone. An adopter ready for adventures, training, and fun will be perfect for Heidi. We anticipate Heidi will enjoy all kinds of activities — walks, outings, learning new skills, and simply being part of a loving family. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ready to Apply? He's a big, cuddly boy who loves people and thrives on attention. If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who will stick by your side, Harrison might be the perfect match. He also needs socialization to help him feel confident in new situations, as he can be a little nervous at times. Story
Mojito requires another dog in the home and no small children. Meet Mojito 🍹—also known as Wiggles—a joyful, wiggly Rottweiler/Shepherd mix with a big heart and lots of puppy charm! At 5 months old and 30 lb, Mojito is a happy, high-energy pup who loves being outdoors, stretching out to enthusiastically chew on his toys, and soaking up everything fun in his world. After playtime, he settles nicely and enjoys a good nap. Mojito does well with other dogs once he warms up, and then he's all about play. He would love a home with a calm, confident canine companion to help show him the ropes and boost his confidence. He enjoys matching the energy level of children, but since he's still a mouthy puppy and learning his manners, dog-savvy older kids are best—no toddlers, please. He's working hard on his leash skills, including heeling, and is improving every day. He may need a few tasty treats to convince him to head into his kennel, but once inside he settles quickly. Housetraining is going well with very few accidents—great progress for a growing pup! Mojito can be cautious when strangers approach too quickly, so he's looking for a confident, patient owner who will help him build confidence and feel safe as he learns that the world isn't so scary. With gentle guidance, consistency, and plenty of treats (his favorite!), his sweet, joyful personality truly shines. If you're looking for a loving, playful puppy who will thrive with support, structure, and a little extra reassurance, Mojito might just be your perfect match 🐾✨
