Jack seems to have springs on his feet and loves to jump up when excited, meaning he needs a patient home willing to work on his impulse control and improve his manners. Housetrained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Gets Along with Dogs: No – Missed critical socialization as a puppy Gets Along with Cats: no – has a high pray drive Gets Along with Men: tends to shy away from men but will warm up slowly Gets Along with Women: yes but may take time to warm up new people Gets Along with Kids: yes – she loves children Temperament: Sweet and playful girl once she gets to know you. She thinks she is a lap dog. Needs a Beginner/Intermediate/Experienced Owner: Experience Special Needs: needs the patience and guidance of an experienced person who can show her that the world is safe and not scary as long as she has her person to protect her Moomoo, or as she is now called Lucy, spent the first year of her life with a young family with whom she adored. As it came about, they did not have the time to care for her properly and she found herself in a kennel most of the time. This resulted in a lack of socialization, therefore Lucy does not know how to behave around dogs. In her present home, she sees the neighbors’ dogs from a distance. On some outings she seems scared and has negative reactions and other times, she does not mind them at all. She has some issues with leash reactivity but she has gotten better. I've had her for six months and I believe it will take someone who is firm but loving to care for her. She has a very strong hunting instinct and a very stubborn streak to go with it. An ideal home for Moomoo would be a place with a large fenced in yard. She is a wonderful and loving dog that was raised with children. She's playful and loving and well behaved inside the home. Lucy would love a home with children and a place to romp & play. Anyone that might be interested please “beware”, this beautiful 90-pound girl thinks she is a lap dog.

Aster is a delightful little lady who had a really rough start in life with a days-long stay in the ICU at Iowa State University shortly after leaving the shelter and arriving at her foster home. Aster has a congenital (from birth) condition known as Hypoplastic Trachea which means that she will need some special care throughout her life, but is sure does not slow her down!! She is sweet and affectionate, loves to sit in your lap, and is very playful. She loves to chew on puppy toys and chase balls. She is working on puppy manners, crate and potty training currently, as well as all of the fun puppy socialization like seeing, hearing, smelling and touching new things and making new friends. She lovessss belly rubs!! She can be a bit shy at first with new people but warms up quickly and enjoys spending time with humans and other animals alike. She will likely be 75-80 lbs full grown. She is a confident, curious puppy who will need a safe, puppy-proofed space to play and explore with guidance. She is not afraid to get on, under, over or into anything!! Aster is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines and is available for foster-to-adopt!

Iris is a spunky little lady who loves to cuddle and sunbathe in the yard. She is playful and goofy and enjoys playing with her sister. Iris is pretty chill overall- she likes to play but has a great off switch and enjoys just hanging out with her people. She has been great for the vet, nail trims, and fairly cooperative for baths. She enjoys wading in the puppy pool too! She travels well and is very quiet in her crate. She has met a cat and was curious but not hyper-focused (the cat was not all that welcoming lol) and she has also been around horses. She is a confident and curious puppy and will require a puppy-proofed area to play and explore with guidance. She is not afraid to get on, under, over or into anything! She is a bit timid with loud vehicles (ex: the trash truck). She is working on puppy manners, crate and potty training currently, as well as all of the fun puppy socialization like seeing, hearing, smelling and touching new things and making new friends. She enjoys spending time with humans and other animals alike. She will likely be 70-75 lbs full grown. Iris is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines and is available for foster-to-adopt!

Story
Bear is an almost 3 year old, large, gorgeous, altered Rottweiler. He is searching for a new family due to his owner having a stroke and no longer able to care for him. He loves to play but currently does not get enough exercise which causes him to exhibit typical behaviors of juvenile boredom. He is a very sweet and loving dog who would flourish in an active home with consistent training. Like most dogs, if no one takes charge of a situation, he will. Bear has had professional training, but it was not followed through at home and he can be stubborn if he doesn't respect the "trainer". However, with people who do reinforce commands he is quick to respond. Bear is very intelligent and eager to please when offered consistent and fair training. He can become mouthy when he is excited. He did this behavior as a puppy and reverted to it when excited. Bear also has never had consistent walks on a leash and needs training in that area. Bear recently was boarded while his owner was hospitalized. The staff reported that he displayed some resource guarding with food and toys resulting in growling if they tried to take it away. Also, when visiting the vet, he needs to be muzzled for blood work or other “in your face” procedures. Overall, Bear is a great dog who will flourish in a home with someone who will enforce boundaries, exercise, and in return will have a loyal dog that loves you more than himself.

Story
Zoey Rae a very sweet girl who loves people! She is super spry and energetic, although she doesn't have the endurance a young pup would have. She has only a touch of grey on her muzzle but she must've drank from the Fountain of Youth as she is so playful with her toys and looks much younger. Zoey does not get along with her foster sister but does get along with her foster brother. Because of her resource guarding, she will do better as an only dog in the house. She can be rough on her toys so strong balls and ropes are the best. Smaller kiddos are not recommended because she doesn't realize her size and she does get possessive with her food and toys. She does well in the house and never has accidents but if something drops to the floor, Zoey thinks that's fair game to grab (she will trade for a treat). She is a counter surfer so you do have to be careful of leaving food unattended. Mostly after she plays with her toys for a bit she just lays next to her human on the floor and is content. She does love the couch if someone is sitting on it, but will get bored and get down to go find her toys. Zoey does fine at the vet with the techs but has to be muzzled when the "white coat" guy comes into the room. Zoey is a VERY vocal girl and will whimper with excitement when people come to the house and she definitely has the rottie rumble. She expresses her feelings with her voice for sure. Zoey has a chicken allergy according to her vet records. She take treats fairly gently and is very treat motivated. She initially did not like her head petted. With trust she has gotten better with that, however she will give a low growl if someone is doing something she doesn't like. Zoey does great in a car but does not like any reflections bouncing on the car roof or in the house. Zoey would love to have a fur-ever home with a person or family who can devote lots of love and attention and she will be so loyal, affectionate and happy to be part of your family!
