Story
Nipsey is an amazing boy! He is goofy and joyful while also extremely smart and agile. Everyone who has met him has loved him! He has been around numerous children and adults with no issues, although when a group of children were being loud and jumping around in the next room, he got nervous and barked. He will do best in a home with respectful and Rottie-savvy children. He has been a joy to have in our home these past few months as he has recovered from pneumonia as well as a cryptorchid neuter. Through all of the long car rides, Vet visits, x-rays and numerous rounds of meds, Nipsey has been patient and agreeable with all of it. He is a normally quiet dog, using his eyes to tell you what he needs, but when an ambulance or firetruck goes by, he will howl along with their sirens, it is the cutest! It has been wonderful watching him go from a lethargic, extremely sick dog that was literally one day away from euthanasia to this happy-go-lucky, fit, BIG boy that moves like he is 30 pounds less than he actually is. He loves being fed but will patiently sit, wait for his bowl to be filled, and will not eat until he hears “ok.” He has not shown any food aggression and can be hand-fed. Nipsey will happily load into his crate and patiently wait to receive a treat for doing so. He will often choose to take a nap in his crate or will retreat there when his foster is working and making too much noise. Nipsey loves eating the water from the hose and sees anything ball-shape as a toy to play fetch with. He will share his toys with dogs but prefers to keep everything for himself. His foster’s resident dog has been very patient as he learned how to play with dogs and not just play fetch with his humans. He recently engaged in a game of chase with his foster’s dog, it was fun to watch it evolve. This Good Boy loves his cuddles but will be respectful if your hand gets tired. He will either lay next to you or find something to entertain himself with…he really just wants to be near his humans. He is good on a leash, initially, he is very excited but he knows heel and will swing around next to you and sit until you lead him on. He could use more practice but we have had a lot of really great walks. He is housetrained and keeps his bed clean. Nipsey is a dream dog! He is joyful, happy, easy-going and kind. He has not growled once in the 4 months he has been with his foster. He loves his foster’s son who will let him into the yard so he can be the first to greet his Foster Mom when she comes home from work. The wiggle in his nubbin and smile in his eyes makes any problem of the day disappear. Nipsey will be a wonderful addition in any Rottie-savvy and quiet home. Get your throwing arm ready for a boy who loves to play fetch and is as goofy as can be!

Story
Aster is a delightful little lady who had a really rough start in life with a days-long stay in the ICU at Iowa State University shortly after leaving the shelter and arriving at her foster home. Aster has a congenital (from birth) condition known as Hypoplastic Trachea which means that she will need some special care throughout her life, but is sure does not slow her down!! She is sweet and affectionate, loves to sit in your lap, and is very playful. She loves to chew on puppy toys and chase balls. She is working on puppy manners, crate and potty training currently, as well as all of the fun puppy socialization like seeing, hearing, smelling and touching new things and making new friends. She lovessss belly rubs!! She can be a bit shy at first with new people but warms up quickly and enjoys spending time with humans and other animals alike. She will likely be 75-80 lbs full grown. She is a confident, curious puppy who will need a safe, puppy-proofed space to play and explore with guidance. She is not afraid to get on, under, over or into anything!! Aster is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines and is available for foster-to-adopt!

Story
Zoey Rae a very sweet girl who loves people! She is super spry and energetic, although she doesn't have the endurance a young pup would have. She has only a touch of grey on her muzzle but she must've drank from the Fountain of Youth as she is so playful with her toys and looks much younger. Zoey does not get along with her foster sister but does get along with her foster brother. Because of her resource guarding, she will do better as an only dog in the house. She can be rough on her toys so strong balls and ropes are the best. Smaller kiddos are not recommended because she doesn't realize her size and she does get possessive with her food and toys. She does well in the house and never has accidents but if something drops to the floor, Zoey thinks that's fair game to grab (she will trade for a treat). She is a counter surfer so you do have to be careful of leaving food unattended. Mostly after she plays with her toys for a bit she just lays next to her human on the floor and is content. She does love the couch if someone is sitting on it, but will get bored and get down to go find her toys. Zoey does fine at the vet with the techs but has to be muzzled when the "white coat" guy comes into the room. Zoey is a VERY vocal girl and will whimper with excitement when people come to the house and she definitely has the rottie rumble. She expresses her feelings with her voice for sure. Zoey has a chicken allergy according to her vet records. She take treats fairly gently and is very treat motivated. She initially did not like her head petted. With trust she has gotten better with that, however she will give a low growl if someone is doing something she doesn't like. Zoey does great in a car but does not like any reflections bouncing on the car roof or in the house. Zoey would love to have a fur-ever home with a person or family who can devote lots of love and attention and she will be so loyal, affectionate and happy to be part of your family!

Story
Bear is an almost 3 year old, large, gorgeous, altered Rottweiler. He is searching for a new family due to his owner having a stroke and no longer able to care for him. He loves to play but currently does not get enough exercise which causes him to exhibit typical behaviors of juvenile boredom. He is a very sweet and loving dog who would flourish in an active home with consistent training. Like most dogs, if no one takes charge of a situation, he will. Bear has had professional training, but it was not followed through at home and he can be stubborn if he doesn't respect the "trainer". However, with people who do reinforce commands he is quick to respond. Bear is very intelligent and eager to please when offered consistent and fair training. He can become mouthy when he is excited. He did this behavior as a puppy and reverted to it when excited. Bear also has never had consistent walks on a leash and needs training in that area. Bear recently was boarded while his owner was hospitalized. The staff reported that he displayed some resource guarding with food and toys resulting in growling if they tried to take it away. Also, when visiting the vet, he needs to be muzzled for blood work or other “in your face” procedures. Overall, Bear is a great dog who will flourish in a home with someone who will enforce boundaries, exercise, and in return will have a loyal dog that loves you more than himself.

Story
Mantis appears highly placeable and suitable for a family environment, including a multi-dog and multi-child household. She presents as affectionate, adaptable, social, very sweet, playful, and eager to please. Overall temperament observed was very positive. She does very well with both women and men during evaluation and was reported to have done well in her previous adoptive home with 6+ children ranging from toddler age through teenagers. During her evaluation, she allowed full body handling and petting with no signs of discomfort, fear, or aggression. She appears confident but not dominant and settled appropriately after initial exploration of space. She seems emotionally balanced and social. She appears likely to bond closely with her people and shows signs she would enjoy physical affection and closeness (“Rottie lean” personality).

Story
MARR covers Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. Rush is being fostered in IN currently. However, transportation is available for adoptions within our coverage area. . Rush is a friendly, playful, deaf (with some partial hearing) 2-year-old neutered male Rottweiler who has had several homes before finding stability with his current foster family. Despite a difficult start in life and multiple returns, he has proven to be a loving, well-adjusted dog. Personality & Behavior * Very affectionate, social, and playful. * Thrives with other dogs and enjoys being part of a pack. * Loves tug-of-war, play wrestling, and chewing toys. * House-trained with excellent indoor manners. * Travels well in the car and behaves well in public. * Comfortable with handling, grooming, and veterinary visits. * Sleeps quietly in a crate overnight. Training * Deaf but highly trainable and eager to learn. * Knows hand-signal cues for sit, stay, come, down, heel/side, and waiting at doors. * Learns quickly and responds well to guidance from both people and other dogs. Health * Has an ongoing issue with his front left leg, likely tendon-related, though no definitive diagnosis has been made. * Enjoys playtime but is not fond of long walks due to the leg discomfort. * Previously experienced anxiety-related behaviors (panting, pacing, whining at dusk) and was treated with Prozac, but has since been successfully weaned off the medication. Other Animals * Gets along very well with other dogs. * Has shown appropriate curiosity around cats and may be able to live with one after proper introductions. Ideal Home Rush would do best in a home with another friendly dog or dogs, a consistent routine, and adopters willing to continue his training and communication through visual cues. He is a sweet, smart, and resilient dog who loves companionship and play and is looking for a stable, forever home.
