You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Welcome To My Homepage!Click the paw to go directly to Our Adoption Information http://www.adoptarott.org/info/sponsorshipIf you are looking for a super affectionate total cuddle bug, Phoenix is your girl!   Phoenix came to MARR after the humane association rescued her from the bitter cold.  She and her doggie friends were abandoned by their owner outside without proper shelter or water.  The night she was rescued, she was hypothermic, dehydrated, disorientated, and walked like she was drunk.   Her ribs were visible with no fat covering.   Her spine and pelvic bones were quite prominent, and she has a very thin waist weighing in at 66 pounds!  She also had a dry dirty and dull hair coat but the sweetest personality!   The humane association immediately began treating her and by the next day she was remarkably better.  They gave her a bath and found out she has a soft shiny hair coat.  Her examination did not reveal any major health issues other than a cataract in her right eye and moderate tartar on her teeth.  It’s possible she has some arthritis but she gets along well in her foster home.  They also drew blood to make sure she didn’t have any health issues, and her blood panels came back completely normal!   She appears to have been a house dog as she has nice house manners and is potty trained.  She also will go in her kennel readily simple by saying “Phoenix kennel” or even just pointing to the kennel.  She knows all the basic commands (sit, stay, down, come) and I am learning she knows a few others as well like shake.   She is smart and is able to figure out puzzle toys right off the bat.   Phoenix is incredibly sweet and affectionate.  She likes to cuddle and lean on you while getting petted.  She is very people orientated and enjoyed attention from everyone she has met so far.  She is very friendly and outgoing but nice and mellow.  She does not jump up on people, just leans in for some loving.  Phoenix just wants to be a part of the family and will not be happy if she is left alone too much.  She would make a wonderful gentle therapy dog or just a great companion for anyone!06-27-14 Update from Phoenix's foster MomPhoenix is an abolute delight!  She is so easy to care for and so well behaved.  She had no problem learning our schedule,  knows our routines, and learns house rules quickly.  She is incredibly calm in the house but like any dog, has spurts of energy when she likes to play with her toys or play fetch.  She also enjoys playing fetch out in the yard and going for short casual walks.  Phoenix is the kind of dog that you can talk to in full sentences and she understands and listens to what you tell her to do.  She amazes me sometimes at how well she listens!!If you don't want her on your furniture, she will stay off.  If you invite her up, she will gladly jump up or ask for help getting up if it's a taller piece of furniture.  We can take her anywhere and she is always well behaved.  We take her camping and she loves going for car rides and golf cart rides. The only issue we have with Phoenix is she doesn't get along with one of our dogs (another female Rottweiler).  She has consistantly shown her displeasure when around dogs her size or bigger.  We have short play / training sessions with Phoenix and the little dogs.  This has been a work in progress to get to the point of allowing contact with them.  Therefore, we feel it's best to adopt her out to a family without any other dogs.Otherwise she truly is a great dog and will be a wonderful companion to someone looking for just one special dog!!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Welcome To My Homepage!Click the paw to go directly to Our Adoption Information http://www.adoptarott.org/info/sponsorshipLydia is about 5 years old.  She has been in her foster home since the end of March.  She came from a shut down rescue in Waco Texas.  She has been in a shelter/rescue environment since July of 2011.  She gave birth to 10 puppies in the shelter/rescue back in 2011.  She doesn't vocalize a lot but is starting to figure out who doesn't belong near the back yard and will let them know.  She eats well and loves to hang with her foster parents.  She has a beautiful natural tail.  She does not kennel well but also doesn't chew anything so she's ok being loose in the house.   If she doesn't want to do something, she just lays down and then goes on her side and on her back.  She doesn't seem to be doing this out of submission or fear, she just acts like, 'Ha ha, try to move me now!'.  She's a big girl, not fat, but big boned and is not easily moved.  Foster mom and dad are working on the potty training.  Since she was in a kennel for a long time, it hasn't been perfect, but she's doing ok as long as she gets outside as soon as she's done eating.  She did real good with a bath and the drying off.  She loves the outside but wants her people to be with her.  She sits and stays and is working on riding in a truck.  She walks pretty good on a leash.  She doesn't really play with toys.  Not sure if it's because she was in the shelter so long or what.  She did have some dental work done prior to coming to MARR.  She is pretty laid back.  She does get bouncy and excited and 'smiles'.  And then lays down, like 'Ok, I'm done.'  She doesn't like thunderstorms.  Lydia seems to get along with everyone.  Adults, male, female, kids of several ages.  A little Carin terrier came over to play and she did really good with her.  Altho, since Lydia is so much bigger (and doesn't really realize it), she does need to be supervised and told 'easy' some with the smaller dog.  She's basically one of those easy dogs that doesn't need a lot of exercise and just makes you smile.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

They didn't take care of me and abused me and then dumped me but that is when I was found by a REAL angel who took me in and nursed me back to health and then found MARR for me. Since then I have learned that not all people are mean and though I am always leery of new people at first but once you've earned my trust I will show you more love and loyalty than you could ever imagine. I love my foster daddy and playing with my foster brother Reuben, he is twice my size but he's so soft and let's me push him around. I really love it when we go to Cathy's house where I can play with all the other dogs that live around there, I am not even afraid of Big Boss B the Great Dane, she thinks she's tough but whatever. Although I love it here my foster daddy works too much and says I would be happier in a home where someone has more time for me, I don't know how I could be any happier but that's what he says. They tell me I'm 3-4 years old but my foster daddy says my teeth are so clean I couldn't. be more than three and that I am full of puppy energy but I can calm down very easily we I need to. Can you give me my furever home? I will love you more then you could ever imagine!9/12/13: An update on Angel. She attached to me and is with me all the time.  Loves to ride in the truck now but had to work on that.  Likes being on the front porch with my husband.  Goes on walks with both of us.  Loves to run around the back yard and play with Dottie my sisters dog.  Loves treats and eats real good now.  I know that we are still getting to know her.  Probably more work to do and I'm willing to do it.  She needs a lot of love and i feel she has a lot to give with work. Angel is a super sweet girl who will attach herself to you very quickly but can be a little shy.  She loves to go for car rides or to just lie on the front porch with you.  Angel also enjoys romping around in the back yard with her fellow foster dogs and of course going on walks with her people.  She is a dog that will require some work but in turn, you will receive a lot of love in return!  Everyone needs an Angel.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Welcome To My Homepage!Click the paw to go directly to Our Adoption Information http://www.adoptarott.org/info/sponsorshipMeet Libby, Libby is starting a brand new life in her foster home.   A good samaritan found Libby in a neighborhood limping on her front leg.  She asked local residents if they knew where she lived and they all said no – she had been wondering around for a while and the locals were throwing her scraps of food.  This wonderful lady brought Libby back to her house and searched for her owner to no avail so she contacted MARR.  We believe Libby came from a back yard breeder as she never lived in a house or worse yet, never knew the love of a human.   Well, those days are behind her now!  Libby is a brand new dog!  Before you saw fear in her eyes and now all you see is smiles and happiness.    We took Libby to the vet because of her limp and found out she does have a tumor that is growing in between the pads of her front left foot which hurts very much.  She is scheduled to have it removed on the 22nd of this month.  Right now, she is getting plenty of rest and some good quality food to build up her strength for her upcoming surgery.     Note from her Foster Mom: Out of all the dogs I have fostered (around 35) Libby is one of the special ones.  She is such a sweet dog and is so grateful and happy to be part of a family.  She is truly amazing.  Libby gets along with all dogs – big and small and cats. She is a gentle soul who deserves nothing but the best.  We are working on teaching Libby basic obedience as she knew nothing when she came to live with us just a few days ago.  Please consider opening your home to Libby as she deserves to be pampered and lovedVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

He loves to lie at your side and get petted. Tyson is kennel and potty trained as well. Tyson isn't much into playing with toys or fetch.  He was an outside dog and that is still in him he loves to be outside lounging. Tyson does well with all people and kids but would recommend older kids 4 and up. He gets along great with big dogs but not small dogs or cats as he sees them as prey. He's getting better on the leash but does pull.04-15-14 Update: Tyson has been here almost a month and is quite the gentleman! Tyson hasn't had an accident for 2 weeks now. He walks ok on a leash he's just in a hurry to smell everything. He plays great with all the dogs and loves to play ball. Tyson will be your best friend he has the rottie lean wants to please you. He does good kenneling up when asked.Hello, I'm Tyson and been with my foster family for a little while now and it's going well. I've been told it's not ok to pee in the house so I'm getting into trouble a lot with that issue.  (Tyson will be neutered very soon so that will help) I've also been told the trash can is not my plate, but they put so much good food in there I can't resist!  I love my kennel so I lay in there a lot as I'm still nervous.  Noises and quick movements make me jump. I get along great with my foster brother and we play outside quite a bit. I love to snuggle with my humans at bed time and they even let me sleep in the bed.  I have been an outside dog all my life, so I just need some work on my manners and I will be a great dog!  Please check back soon for more about me!Notes from the Shelter:Meet Tyson!  He is a 6 year old Rottweiler mix who came into our shelter about 3 months ago.  He has been a yard dog his entire life before entering the shelter system.  Coming out of that situation he is really quite social with both people and dogs. No issues seen with people.  Tyson has interacted successfully with everybody that I have seen him with.  Men and women, he lived in a home with at least one child but we have not had him with children here at the shelter.   No resource guarding food, toys, bones, beds, etc from people.  We do not group house so could not tell you accurately how he is with resources and other dogs.   As I said earlier, Tyson has been a yard dog, so I have a pretty good idea that he will not tolerate cats or small prey animals.  He is very focused on the cats in our cat room, they are behind a barrier but I would not feel safe having him loose with the cats.  Could some 'leave it' training and redirection benefit Tyson?  For sure, but probably not  a dog that I would ever trust alone (w/o supervision).    Tyson is a staff favorite here at our shelter.  Just a big goofy rottie!  He would be up for any adventure and I could see him doing really well in a home with previous rott experience. Story
This stunning girl, Jaz is estimated to be a one and half year old Rott/Lab mix that is close to 67 pounds.   She is always excited to play and explore. She is very inquisitive and will explore any new area thoroughly. She loves people and will show it while following you around or hanging on your lap and will try to sneak up for face licks.   When not following you or exploring she likes playing with her chew toys and tugging toys, especially any that make noise. Loves peanut butter in her toys and getting treats when training.   She as not been exposed to cats directly but  has been to the Dog Bar several times and is a little timid around dogs at first, but will warm up and start wandering. Currently would only have around older children around her due to her size and timidness.   Jaz is not a fan of bath time and will try to escape when a hair dryer is used though is slowly getting used to it. She is very food motivated and trainable, but sometimes her attention wanders during training and consistency will be key with her, she can also be a little stubborn. Jaz has mild separation anxiety and will whine when you initially go somewhere she can't follow.    Jaz is kennel trained and house trained though hasn't been free to roam unsupervised, should still have consistent outings of at least 15 min. She will benefit from someone that is confident, patient, consistent in her training, and can get her regularly exercised. She will need a fenced yard without acorns/walnuts, she will eat them. Looking for an a buddy to explore with? This loving girl is just waiting for you to apply at https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/   She is spayed, microchipped, on monthly preventatives and has all her vaccinations and heartworm test for 2024 and 3 yr Rabies vaccination.   ADOPTION DONATION $350 PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. Story
Velma is a sweet and cuddly Boxer mix (likely some kind of pitbull), that will be two years old this summer. She is always ready to go wherever her people are going and likes to stay near by. She loves running around in the backyard chasing any animals and starring out the window to see what's going on. Velma has no problems staying in a kennel and is house trained (though she might still have an occasional accident in the house once in a while). She has been great with my 11yo son and his friends. But she and my other dog have been becoming more aggressive towards each other, and she should be in a home without other dogs. Velma has been a great companion, friendly with people, and I'm hoping to find her a good home. The adoption fee is basically for her leash, toys, kennel, bowl, etc. and would be able to go lower on the price if that is not needed. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to meet Velma.

Story
Duncan is a 4 year old, male, Boxer mix. He came to us after being rescued from a house fire where he lost his family (owner and two other dog siblings). He stayed loyal to his owner during the fire and was rescued laying next to his owner. He is a very very sweet boy. Unlike a typical boxer he is a mellow personality. When he gets excited he likes to talk and batt his arm at you and he loves to chase tennis balls. He seems to like to find small spaces like corners to feel safe. We expect this is because he was raised in a smaller home. -Duncan would do best in a home with another dog for companionship or with a retired person who will include him in lots of stuff and give him lots of love. He seeks out cuddles! -He does great with our 4 kids, 3 other dogs, and our bird. We have not had him around any cats. - Fenced yard he can run around in and lounge in. -He has had 2 ACL surgeries a few years ago. He came to us over weight but is now at a healthy weight.

Story
How good, good dogs like Sasha end up on the street we will never understand. Sasha was found as a stray and never reclaimed. Lucky for us, because we get to find her her forever home! We estimate Sasha is 4 years old and she appears to be a boxer mix. At 55 lbs, she's a great size. She is obedient, loves everyone, and is an overall good girl. During the day, Sasha accompanies her foster mom at work where she is happy to lounge and hang out. At night, she sleeps in her little doggy bed. Sasha does not like her kennel and she would love to find a home where she can work with you from home or join you at the office. She is the biggest snuggle bug and anyone will be lucky to add her to their family!  House trained: Yes - can be left out without accidentsLeash trained: Yes - walks great on a leashKennel trained: Hates the kennel - has been left alone for 2-3 hours at a time and does wellRides well in a car: Yes Good with other dogs: Yes - would love other dog companions Good with cats: Yes - fostered with cats Good with young children (under 10): Not fostered with kids but we think she'd do well Shy or confident: Confident Barks: No Apartment qualified: Yes Health concerns or special needs: None We believe Sasha is a Boxer mix and was born around 2-28-2020.
