Foster Home Feedback 5/3/2023 Temporary Care Feedback: It has been fun taking Marlin and Dory for a short time again. I can’t believe how well Dory is doing! Her foster has done wonders with her. She is a special little lady who loves to run and play. Her energy doesn’t end and she is so fun to watch. Marlin is the same old laid back gentleman who loves to be cuddled and petted. He is content just lazing his day away lying on the couch or in the sunshine in the yard. They are so different but I love them both so much. 1/31/2023 Foster Feedback: Two weeks already in our foster home and we are thriving! Marlin loves being around humans and definitely loves his cuddles. Dory is coming around nicely even though it takes her longer to warm up and trust people. Their favorite activity, besides cuddling, is running free in a fenced backyard. They much prefer being off-leash to walking on a leash. Did you say, “go for a ride?” Both love riding in vehicles. Both are very food motivated and have already learned a few new tricks while in our home. They respond well to the commands, stay and come. If you have ever been around Dobermans, Marlin has the “Doberman lean” down to a science and likes to place his head in your lap. He is much more mellow than Dory. Dory does get jealous if you pay more attention to Marlin so ensure another family member is interacting with Dory if you are snuggling or playing with Marlin. You could also give her a frozen Kong or licking mat. She has responded well to this redirection. She is good at nudging you with her nose if she wants attention too! They like to sleep near each other, or if you let them, they would love to sleep in your bed. All in all, they are doing well and would love to find their forever home. 1/22/2023 Foster Feedback: Marlin and Dory are adapting to our foster home. They love their walks and still pull but are getting better. Marlin has the Doberman prance nailed down when he walks—he looks so regal. They would really love a fenced yard to run off some of their energy. Dory loves her toys—playing fetch and tug of war are her favorites but she is content playing with a toy too. Marlin is a gentle giant and loves his cuddles. He too likes toys but not as much as Dory. Dory is more excitable and will bark when she sees items of interest outdoors, namely other dogs or animals. Both dogs are very good about going potty, however, upon awakening in the morning Dory is quite skittish and will run from us and not want her harness on as such she has had a couple accidents in the morning but the remainder of the day she does well. I feel this behavior will be overcome shortly as she comes out of her shell. All in all, they are doing well and this bonded pair would love to find their forever home. 1/10/2023 Volunteer Feedback: Tragedy brought these beautiful Dobermans to the Rescue when their owner passed away in early December. Sadly, family couldn't take them and so they arrived at our shelter very sad and sooooo scared of all the changes in their lives. Dory and Marlin are a bonded pair...Dory is female, 5 years old and a petite 56 pounds. Marlin is larger at 80 pounds and is 8 years old. They have adapted well to living together in one of our shelter apartments but are still waiting for an available foster that can take both of them together. They cannot be separated and need an adopter or foster without other dogs as Dory loves Marlin so much she doesn't want to share him with other dogs! They are extremely quiet at the shelter and non reactive to all the other dogs and all the playing going on outside their room at the shelter. Shelter volunteers love caring for Dory and Marlin, but it is breaking their hearts that dogs so gentle and well behaved are living in a kennel...they are all hoping they will soon be adopted or get a foster family. Here are some of their comments: "So gentle and loving...a couple of softies looking for someone to love them. They are the most mellow, well behaved dogs I have ever encountered at the shelter. It's obvious they were very loved house dogs and are so well behaved. They LOVE attention, especially Marlin, who is a true 'leaner' pup. I could have spent all afternoon with them! Together they are easier than having a solo pup." Look into their big brown eyes...Please say YES to adopting this bonded pair of beautiful Dobies. If you can't adopt, could you foster them temporarily until their new family finds them? Let's get Dory and Marlin out of the shelter soon! 1/3/2023 Volunteer Feedback: I spent some time with the dobies today and they were so sweet. It was my first time meeting them, and Marlin in particular is quite imposing, but they were both very gentle and loving. We played tug for a while and then hung out on the couch. They're just a couple of softies looking for someone to love them. Reports of Marlin wanting to mark in the building proved unfounded also (his neuter probably helped a lot) as he didn't try to make any messes. Hopefully they can find a forever home soon!Click here to watch a video of Dory and Marlin - Bonded Pair.To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org June 7, 2023, 9:37 pm
