Hi, I’m Kuma. 🖤You may remember me as Josie, but I have a new name now and I’m starting fresh.I’m a 7-year-old Rottweiler who was originally found as a stray in Saint Joe. Life hasn’t always been easy for me, and I carry some of the signs of being used as a breeding dog in the past. But through it all, I’ve never stopped loving people.I was recently returned to the shelter due to changes in my owner’s health, so through no fault of my own, I’m looking for a home again.I’m incredibly affectionate and loyal, and once I bond with you, I’ll be your shadow. I will be honest though—I’m still learning the rules of living in a home. Sometimes I get curious about counters or try to slip out the door, simply because no one ever taught me what was right and wrong before.But here’s the best part: I really want to learn. With a little patience, guidance, and love, I know I can be the amazing companion I was meant to be.A few things about me:• I may be selective with other dogs• I haven’t met cats yet• I have a huge heart and love my people deeply• I’m ready for a fresh startMy past hasn’t been perfect, but my future could be—with the right family.If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will love you with everything she has, please come meet Kuma at DeKalb Humane Society.I’m ready to start my next chapter… maybe with you. 🐾An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Harley and her mother were abandoned with a friend of my aunt who couldn't take care of them long term. We took Harley not understanding how active she would be. We have two other dogs that she gets along with well. However, she needs a more active household. She is very loving and cuddly. She likes to jump, climb and chew. She does not like to share her toys.

Pepper is the definition of goofy!This happy guy recently arrived at FDHS with his buddy Salt (also available!), and he’s already become a favorite around the kennels. Pepper is still pretty new here, but he has wasted no time winning people over with his wiggly greetings, silly personality, and all-around good vibes.Pepper seems to think everyone is a potential best friend. He’s been a delight for our staff and is always ready to share a little sunshine wherever he goes.From what we’ve seen so far, Pepper could be a great fit for many different types of families. He’s friendly, affectionate, and has a personality that’s hard not to love. We’re still getting to know him more each day, but it’s safe to say this boy is ready to bring a lot of joy into someone’s life.Pepper is accepting adoption applications and is on the lookout for a forever home that’s ready for a whole lot of wiggles and love.**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention**

Hi future best friend, I’m Jupiter! I’ve been told I’m a Boxer mix, but honestly I think I’m mostly just… dog? Big, wiggly, slightly slobbery good vibes.I ended up at FDHS as a stray, which is weird, because I definitely feel like I used to belong to somebody. I’m pretty good at this whole “being a Good Boy” thing. I’ve got manners, I like people a whole lot, and I don’t really cause a fuss. So… not sure how I got here, but here I am.I’m super friendly with my caregivers. Like, really friendly. If you sit down, I will probably try to be part of that situation. Personal space is more of a suggestion, right? I’ve also got a goofy side… sometimes I do things and even I’m not sure why I did them, but it makes people laugh, so I consider that a win.Other dogs? Meh. I don’t mind them, don’t need them. I’m kind of doing my own thing. Cats… no clue. I haven't met one here. Could be cool, could be weird. Life is full of mysteries. I guess what I’m saying is… if you want a sweet, slightly dopey, very lovable guy who will hang out with you and occasionally make you laugh just by existing, I’m single and searching.
