Meet Smores! Smores is an energetic dog. This big guy loves to run around our play yard to get his energy out. His favorite toy is a rope toy, and you can often find one in his mouth when he's zooming around. Smores also enjoys working on his skills, especially for treats. He knows how to sit nicely and take the treats gently! Smores lived in a home with several other dogs, but they did not get proper attention so smores does have some guarding issues with his food. He may be able to have a dog friend, as he does not react to the dogs here at the shelter, although we would be very cautious. We would not recommend him with small children or cats. Smores will need someone who is willing to put the time in to let him get comfortable with. Once he knows and trusts you, he is the sweetest boy! Boz a very handsome 2 year old, 45 lb, male Rottweiler mix was surrendered to the rescue after living outside in a box for shelter. At some point Boz did live in the home with other big dogs and reportedly did well. He has been friendly & cooperative with the volunteers at the rescue and loves running in the big play yard. Boz is house trained and is now current on vaccines and neutered. Apollo, a 60 lb., 16 month-old, Rottweiler (?) mix, is ready to romp his way into your heart. If you prefer dogs or puppies in size XL, who take up the whole couch during a football game--the kind of happy-go-lucky, rough and tumble dog whose ears flap like small wings chasing a ball, then perhaps you should schedule a time to meet Apollo. Apollo is “air tight” housetrained, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. Apollo came to us as a stray so there are some things we don’t know about his history. Apollo has never shown an ounce of aggression towards other dogs. For lack of training, he does play a little rough but he’s so sweet he will drop a ball from his mouth and tap it through the fence so that a dog on the other side can play with it. (Really.) Apollo needs a home without small children and would love a large, fenced yard for some safe, vigorous daily exercise. He needs a strong arm to walk him on leash, but it’s so easy to imagine Apollo bushwacking a trail with his person or people, or making a big splash in a local river. He’s kind of like a dog version of Indiana Jones. His best friend is Haven, a 50 lb., female Hound mix, who loves racing around the yard with him. If you’re looking for an action and adventure hero disguised as a Big Puppy, Apollo would love to meet you. Ruby Belladaisy is a 3 year old female. She is a Rottweiler mix. She can live with kids and other dogs. She cannot live with cats. She is not possessive over food but she eats it very quickly like she won`t get another meal. ** Ruby Belladaisy is in our care in Altoona PA. She is available for adoption. Each animal gets microchipped, spayed/neutered, 4DX tested (if over 6 months of age), flea treated, and vaccinated. The adoption fee covers those costs. Adoption fees are listed on the application. An application must be filled out in order to visit with any dog or cat. They can be found on our website www.centralpahumane.org. Scroll down and under number 2 you will see dog adoption application. Do not click on “browse our pets.” Applications are also available at the shelter. Our animals are posted on Facebook and Petfinder - only when time permits. A Petfinder inquiry is not an application, and they may not be responded to. Meet Bloody Mary.This little one just arrived tonight with 6 others! She is an almost four month old mixed breed, truly a Heinz 57. We expect her to be large when full grown.She is great with dogs, cats, and kids. She has been raised with a family since he was born on Aug 18th. She is very snuggly!** Bloody Mary is in our care in Altoona PA. She is available for adoption.
