Behavior Notes:
Per staff 3/4/26: Kennel Presentation: attempted to get her out earlier in the day, she would come to the front and take a few treats with wide eyes, ears to the side and nub not moving. When i presented the leash she retreated to the back side of her kennel. I tossed a few treats however she stopped eating them.
Leash Skills: i closed the guillotine as she was laying down in the backside. I slowly opened the door and looped her pretty easily however going slow is going to be best for her. Once leash was on she came out of kennel slowly. Walked on the leash right next to me with head lowered, hunched back, eyes darting and ears to the side.
Sociability: i crouched down and Missy sat only a few inches from me. I slowly reached out my hand and she did not move away. I gently scratched her chest for three second and then stopped. She moved closer to me and i gently gave more pets. Her eyes were soft and wide with a closed mouth.
Play: n/a
Dog Interaction: on leash with Nike. Missy was avoidant, would not look in Nikes direction and pulled hard in the opposite direction.
Return to Kennel: hesitated going in, with light leash pressure went in.
Color Level: blue
Recommendations and considerations: she is a nervous girl who needs time and a quiet place to decompress.
Per staff 3/3/26: Surgery called me to help get missy out to bring her to get spayed. Missy was laying on the bed when I approached her kennel. Eyes were wide with ears forward. She came out the front of the kennel, when I presented the leash she retreated to the back side and began to bark. I had to close the door and called her softly which she came forward. I closed the guillotine door and tried lassoing. She sat in the corner head turned avoidant of eye contact. She did a lot of head shaking (may have something going on with left ear), once leash she came out and pulled mildly on the leash to the back. Nose to the ground the entire time. Was able to have the doctor listen to her and sedate with minimal restraint.
Per owner 3/2/26: Surrendered by owner of 4 years due to their dad passing away and them no longer being able to care for her. She lived with adults and a 15 year old, is fully housebroken, not crate trained, high energy, has never bitten, is okay with children, approachable with strangers, not good with cats, and unknown with dogs. They stated that she is a house dog who is used to being around family
