Story
This good-looking boy (Beau aka Bo) was placed in an outside kennel at HSOV during the overnight- or early morning hours on February 24, 2024. The temperatures that night were below freezing and Beau was huddled up in the corner of the 'open air' chain link kennel when our kennel techs arrived for work around 7:30am that morning. Beau was wearing an orange plastic collar but there was neither a dog license tag nor an ID tag on his collar. The only information left with him was that he was 'an escape artist' .. so we really don't know if he was found as a stray or whether he was an owner surrender. But thankfully for Beau, he was quickly taken inside our shelter and given a warm bed and a hearty breakfast. Beau has a black-and-tan short smooth coat with a small patch of white on his chest, a long tail, and a beautiful face with hopeful trusting eyes, tan eyebrows/muzzle, and large floppy ears. These photos of Beau were taken around 5pm on February 24th when HSOV Kennel Tech Sydney Satow accompanied Beau for outdoor photos in the snow. Beau has an affectionate disposition and loved attention which Sydney bestowed upon him. Beau appears to be housetrained since he 'took care of business' before posing for his photo session. Beau weighs approximately 50 lbs and walked fairly well on a leash for Sydney. We will post a more accurate weight after his intake procedures are completed. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Beau will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. UPDATE: We've obtained some additional information about Beau that we would like to share with potential adopters: Beau had been taken into a family's home as a favor for a friend, but Beau did not get along with other male dogs in their home .. So they were not in a position to offer him a permanent home. Beau is ok with female dogs, and he is also ok with children. Beau does not like to be in a cage/floor crate and will bend wires in order to escape .. And he will not stay in a fenced-yard since he will jump the fence and make his getaway (hence the original information that Beau was 'an escape artist'). However, Beau will learn his boundaries in an un-fenced yard. Beau is super active and full of energy. Beau will be neutered in the near future and will be ready to find a loving home of his very own.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Beau was held for three days so that his original owner would have an opportunity to reclaim him but nobody called or came looking for Beau. These updated photos were taken on March 25, 2024 when HSOV Kennel Tech Hannah McClain accompanied him outdoors for updated photos. Beau's preliminary photos were taken the day he arrived on February 24th during an unexpected flurry of snow. His first photos were adorable but the snow on the ground has dated them. Beau has an affectionate outgoing personality. He was happy to oblige Hannah with his best sunshine photo poses .. And we believe that Hannah was able to skip the gym that day since Beau gave her a good cardiovascular workout (smile). Beau weighs approximately 50 lbs and is fairly strong on a leash. Beau will be neutered in the near future and will be ready to find a loving home of his very own.
